I was only thinking about CG Challenge the other day, wonderring if it’d run out of steam, then low-an-behold it bounces back bigger than ever. It’s been a long time coming, but this should be a good one. I missed Machine Flesh but had a lot of fun with Alienware Check it out while you’re waiting for me to pass a milestone ;). I want to spend a little bit of time thinking about direction. Plus I promised myself I’d never attempt to draw again with a mouse. So here’s to fast-tracking my order for a wacom. Cheers to all.

great sense of ā€˜action’ I like the way it looks like a downed ship is scathing the foreground landscape and it works with your comosition. my only crit (at this early stage) is that its unclear what is destroying the central tower - thats if it is a tower and not a saucer ship firing into the ground. perhaps more ā€˜balance’ between the opposing sides. I do get the feeling of being in mid-battle though, this is a splendid dynamic style.

#6

that’s a great concept u have thr, nice sense of dynamic action and movement. I like the swiling smoke too

Thanks for the feedback, I’ve just added an updated version. It’s meant to be a downed satellite/city. I’m still trying to get the hang of drawing with a tablet. But I’m hoping to do a few more concepts.

#8

Great movement and blocking in the scene. Look forward to more.

Beautifully dynamic feel - not clear on exactly what’s happening yet, but the picture feels alive.

I remember once seeing a book of photographs called ā€œThe Air War in the Pacificā€ and being blown away by the fantastic sense of scale given by the smoke from crashing aircraft and the wake from ships turning - they served as markers to show just how huge the battlefield was, in a way that empty space never could. You’ve got some of the same going on here.

#10

riki, it seems to me like you are getting the hang of your wacom just fine! interesting sketch.

#11

okay don’t ask  still trying to hone my skillz with the tablet.

#12

your concepts look great. look forward to updates

#13

riki,

They are interesting sketches, don’t know exactly what they are but they have a nice feel to them.Looking forward to more stuff with your new tablet.
