Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Richard LaBrie

#721

You’re doing great Richard… keep going strong!
The finish line is so close you can almost reach out and grab it… best of luck man!

#722

Ok I am much further along now. I have set basic texture id’s around the eyes for the eye lashes and the lips since they are the only uniquely different id’s to worry about I figured I set it now while its more simple of an object. I am still working out all the details so this is in no way a final. It is getting closer… More to come.

#723

Ok here is an update to the buildings to be in the background of the scene. There are still more buildings being worked on each hour. I am currently going back and forth between this and the character for variance of tasks in my routine… keeps it interesting! More to come. I plan on adding lights to these buildings on the tops and other areas.

Hi Richard!
Man, now thats one big colection of images that You have here!
Nice characters that Your doing here, and the buildings are quite ok, if they are going to be in the background.
Can You show how is the final composition going to look, from what kind of angle everything is going to be viewed, that is? :bounce:

P.S. Thanks for the feedback in my thread!

#725

This is some massive work. Crazy, man. Very impressive. You’ve been 100% grand space opera for 4 months straight! I love the frigate in particular, although I think the textures are too dark. How many different ships total? I’d personally worry that the final image would be way too complex for someone to “read” it right away, but that could just be me. And then there are background buildings and characters? Blows my mind. In general I’d suggest eliminating elements, both whole ships and a level of detail in the textures, just from the final image mind you, and changing the base color of the textures from black to something brighter to provide contrast from the background. But I don’t think you’ve posted a pass at the final compositon, so these comments may not be relevant. You’ve come up with enough stuff for an mmrpg. Keep going! tick tick tick

#726

that chick is coming good!

#727

It’s been a long time Richard! Time well-spent I might add too!!

I like your progress…a little suggestion would be to narrow a bit the lady’s jaw…the side view looks perfect!

Keep it up mate! Almost at the finish line!

#728

Ok making alot of progress. The last six hours I have spent mainly going through dozens of pictures of girls faces from all over the world trying to find that “Asian-Euro” mix then tweaking her features to match. I think this is the way our species will look mostly in the future through intermarriages and what not. So she is designed to embody all people of earth not just one group… What do you think? More to come…

#729

what is the line between cheek and ear??!

#730

Ok I have worked out most of the flaws by this point. I am quite happy with the progress. I have also been working on the buildings and Mechanized Standing Tank. I will post updates here in a few minutes of those.

#731

I have been waiting to see all of your elements together…can’t wait…this is the FUN week when everything starts to be realized… :bounce: away…

#732

Ok I added the eyes, skin detail, lipstick, now I need to do eyebrows, eyelashes & hair. As soon as thats complete I will attach it to the body.

#733

The head’s coming along pretty nice I think, all the proportions are looking good, I guess the main issue is smoothing, could use an extra level of meshsmooth I feel.

Cheers!

#734

Thanks everyone. Sorry its been awhile since I have responded… But you can see why…busy, busy, busy… but really I am never to busy for you all. Thanks for the input, suggestions, compliments and support. I ran into a bit of a problem with my scene. To complex… again… lol. I will scale it back and post an update. Also I need to get an update of the finished MechST up here. bleh so much to do so little time… Anyway, Don’t worry about the smoothing on either this or the body in latest forms because if I smooth - pre connection to the body it will look funny so I will smooth it after the body and head are properly attached… my next major project for the evening… should hopefully not take too long so I can get that up here. Anyway, more to come, stay tuned!

#735

Ok here is an update showing some of the work on the buildings adding lights, signs etc… More to come.

#736

I like your buildings and where the face has gone… very nice work! :applause:
No crits… just keep going! You’re doing great, and you’re almost there. No looking back… go go go!! :bounce: :bounce:

#737

Ok now I have added the eyebrows, mapped them, masked the eyelashes, and added bump to the lips making them more life-like. More to come…

#738

#739

lol, squibbit I had thought of it (smacks self) uh nevermind, stay on target, stay on target… Anyway, I have a massive amount of updates to upload. I have had both my machines running strong and outside of a few crashes, smoothly. I got hair on her head now… grr that is maddening let me tell you I will post it up in a bit after its right… Next I have the Mech ST coming now… And then more city updates after that…

#740

Here is the first of several updates showing off the different views of the now finished Basilisk - Mechanized Standing Tank. This was alot of work but it will look awesome in the middle ground between the characters and the Alien dropships. More to come…
