Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Richard LaBrie

#701

your thread must be in the top 3 with the most wip pictures in the challenge! I couldn’t go through the whole thing! keep at it man.

#702

Everything seems to be going great. Not sure if your finish but her rump needs a bit of fixing.

#703

Left hand about 50% complete. Should be finished shortly. Next up, feet and then I’ll form the head… lol I had to…

#704

Progressing very nicely there DMW. Sure does look like a lot of work to make a person… heh… keep at it man!

#705

All the best to you too Richard,

Its good to see the progress you have made so far, my only concern(s) after a very quick catch up on this thread are on the compositional images I have see earlier is that there is a lot of small details but no overall ‘movement’ to the piece, I guess if you have the entire scene layed out then trying various lighting settings will help with the detail consistency as to me it looks like there is no ‘centrepiece’ and hopefully bring out more of what you want to say with this image. - Also small point as you are still modelling but the last image of the girl in progress her underarm / breast muscle attachment looks too deep and a bit wonky. keep at it dude!

#706

heya…

alot of work here, I hope u can finish it.

a few suggestions, maybe you could tweak to the anatomy…

her back, and the the sides, are a bit too “boxy”, try rounding out the edges a bit…

Fix the lump coming out of her upper thigh on the sides

the small of her back, curving up to the shoulder blades - I think that protrudes out too much and might give a hunched appearence…

The hand looks a bit think from the side view, and the hand itself (excluding fingers) feels a bit small. There’s some great samples from www.3d.sk with anatomy pics… go check it out - it’s awesome

keep it going man, I hope I’ve offered some constructive crits. Hope it’s not harsh…
if it’s going to covered with the armour, then focus more on the head.

#707

After an excruciating number of solid hours of tweaking, thanks to some suggestions I think I have the body done. The armor is skin-tight. So the body has to be near perfect to look right. C’n’C welcomed. I am starting on the head now. More to come…

#708

Oh yes this has come out real nice now Richard.Nice effort and tweaking session. It worked out well. Those were some good solid suggestions by Versiden…My main thought was the fingers…the seperation of them. But i see they are now well and in proper form…:arteest:

So hows it coming? You getting there?I sure hope so.It looks as if you are…I’l let you get back to your head modeling…All the best to you, good luck to you,no bumpy roads ahead I hope…Until next update, all the best…:arteest: :arteest:

#709

That is quite the jump you made during these past few posts on the body. I think her palm is a little on the short side though, and her upper arms seem just a tad too long.

I am amazed you were able to get this much done in such a short time! Keep up the great work

#710

uhhh… modelling a human body can really give a headace - but our result is really great. Better than mine

#711

It’s looking better and better. I especially like hands. Good progress.

#712

Yes…hands are looking better …try to work more also on the other points Versiden says…
meaning her back a little more…her bumm …Keep going though , it’s getting better in every update…

#713

Wow!! Major improvements all across the board! (or should I say body… lol)

Fantastic work on that body DMW… really nice! :applause:

Now for the head? Good luck!!

#714

Starting point of the head. Base was a sphere, turned to nurbs for now. Basic refinements around the nose, jaw and eyes. More to come…

#715

Hey everyone thanks for the input. With your help, she is coming along nicely. I also have to thank my gf, who with a little spoiling was willing to donate her body to me for reference. She let me take all the reference photos I needed to get this done. That a back rub and… has helped throught this process. Maybe I will make this model available for download after I am done to anyone who private messages me that they want it.

Versiden thanks for that reference. It helped out. Thanks to everyone for their c n c its never too harsh, because I am so much of a perfectionist that I never feel a model is done… So instead I just force myself to move on… more to come…

#716

Just an update. I will post a few more before calling a night. Although they might be more time between each update. Going to be alot of work. Not going to have the time to post every step.

#717

Richard,
You have good progress on the body and the head. Character modeling is tough but it is coming along fine.
Mike

#718

Organics are my thing man…

#719

I know the head is still a bit funny shaped, but I am still refining the areas around the nose, eyes, mouth, ears. They are only at basic form. I spent most of the last day fighting with the nose… my favorite task… I think it is pretty close. The jaw is all funky but I will get to the head tweaks after the face is done. More to come.

#720

Comming good on the head, faces are probably the hardest things to model. In the profile view try pulling the nose out a little more and moving the jaw/ mouth area back a little. Overall looking nice good luck.
