Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Richard LaBrie

#341

Added outer ring docking stations complete with opening doors. The design of this space station is based on the concepts created in the 60-80’s of what colonization of space should look like. The outter ring is in constant rotation to create an artificial gravity. The center piece is designed to house, military or government workers and tech stuff. In essence if you were in the outer ring it would look like a modern city just on a curved ground (where Halo got its idea from).

#342

Nice update man… I would advice to bend the ends of these shields, or defence structures, in the direction of the station… I hope you get what I mean… Keep the nice job up!

#343

The docking bay doors.

#344

Adding defensive paneling. Next come turrets / weapons.

#345

Hey arturro, thanks for the input. I understand exactly what you mean and I have full intentions on bending here and there to make it keep the smooth shape, but if I bend them in yet it will make all my extrusions go haywire, you know what I am saying right? Hehe more to come… bending too

#346

Defensive Paneling Matrix Almost Complete. The Defensive weapon grid.

#347

lol… this space station just keeps getting better and better!! Very nice! I see a monster in the making… :buttrock:

#348

A short animated quicktime movie of Vespian NEO IV.

#349

I was just messin around with different concepts. I figure with as many WIP as I put sometimes the off the wall stuff just comes in mid inspiration :stuck_out_tongue:

#350

Starting to put the light-mapping on the object. Still sorting through UVW’s… Going to take me a bit this is a complex sob as far as curving faces goes…

#351

Most of the UV’s are now aligned and mapped properly. This turned out better than I thought it was going to overall. God I love getting carried away with an idea…hehe

#352

Fixed some of the lower UV’s, more to go. Still mapping the entire object face at a time, but like I said not going to happen immediately

#353

I’m not sure if the screen here at work is just that bad or if your ships are supposed to be camoflaged, but they’re really hard to make out against the background. Extremely cool that they may be, they seem to be nothing more than masses of warped space. Is that the point?

#354

Still not perfect, but definantly getting really close!

#355

Yes and no. Yes they are supposed to be somewhat camoflaged its more or less the concept of how things look when the only thing really lighting them is lights on them. That and I needed to lighten up the background a bit. Anyway more to come. Thanks for the input. My monitor is giving out so my gamma is all messed up I can never tell if these look bright enough. :frowning: Please let me know if this is not the case. Thanks.

#356

WOW! Man you have a great grand amount of ships so far!
Regarding your last model The NEO III, I think you should brighten up the texture in order to show all the modeled details… Just an idea…

Keep it great mate!

#357

Hey DMW, great job!! I really like where you’re going with this… but I do have to agree that it’s difficult to make out any discernable details on the space station. I understand the concept of space, darkness, and what not… but perhaps you could shed some direct sunlight on the surface (just so we can get a better view of how it looks). What I mean by direct sunlight is how the space shuttle looks when NASA shows images from the outside (hard cut light from one side, and very-little-to-no ambient light from the other side (I think the light map would then take over on that side)). Just an idea…

Keep up the great work!!

#358

this is looking great just but i have to agree with rest need to show to the details of the station with someway.

keep it up this is going great

#359

I have been cut-off from the internet for the last 18+ hours. Don’t ask long story, but I have been modeling none-the-less.

#360

Tweaking some surfaces. adjustnig uvw’s etc…
