Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Radu Octavian Pop

Ahhhh this is the ticket! Nice work here Pro, I’ve been waiting for that complete scene!! Looks like it should be awsome, I really hope you finish in time. The wormhole looks cool with the ships infront of it. The whole scene looks busy now too, very ‘operatic’

:bounce:

I dont know why are these people using checkes to setup the mapping. It may help you to see the misteked, maybe. But i have never used that tehchnique, and my mapping is perfect, so it cant be so important. And ich you are mapping right with preview of the texture for the object, you will directly see what`s wrong and right, so you can save time. And somethimes you will also miss some nice combinations and stiches if you only use checker insteed of proper texture;-)

#103

A quick texturing test.I was very curious how will look like.
Its just a test because Im not sure yet about the dominant colour for the destroyer, I`ll have to finish building the UV maps and the small modeling details are not donne yet.
So, still a long way to go.

M477 - Thank you very much Matthew for your interest and your kind words. Im glad you like it. I hope Ill be able to catch the furious, savage and rabid attack feeling for the alien ships emerging from the wormhole.
Right now im struggling with UV mapping and textures. Darkone2652 - Yes Peter, its possible youre right. Sometimes helps you texturing your mesh, sometimes helps others to see what youve donne. I though it was a good thing to show what I`ve donne (good or bad).

#105

The alien ships will look like this.
I`m not a hypervoxelniac.
I see the aliens emerging from their wormhole like fire tongues.
These are sprite hypervoxels. Here the fire effects are a little to big, and there will be smaller to save render time too.

#106

alien ships ae very good, I like the painting spirit of it. I’m waiting to see this all together;) good luck!

#107

Thanks Artur. I didnt want to use a shiny metallic surface for alien ships. Hope Ill finish in time. The deadline is so close.

Nicely done Radu. Great motion to your image. I have to admit I could barely tell those were ships coming out of the portal. After enlarging it I could tho. Very cool concept. Keep up the good work. GL in the judging round!

Hey Radu,
First time I have seen your thread, sorry I missed this one during the contest. I like your final image sort of Lord of the rings the space opera version. I like the detailing on the main ship in the foreground.
Good luck.
Mike

Your appreciations are a great reward for my work.
You knwo, the day to day life is asking her rights.
So, when I was tired or late in night, when an observation or an encouraging word camed from you guys, refuelled my bateries.
My only regret is that I hadn`t time enoght to visit the many, many cool and interesting entries in this challange.
The theme was a generous one, and now, when all is finished I have more time to visit and enjoy others work.
And there are a lot of entries here, which are so enjojable for eye and spirit and from which I can have something to learh.
