Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Pfeiffer Gilles

I like the way your robot is taking. I wasn’t convainced by the beginning of your post, but I find you’re making of good use of your idea after all… Good luck !

#122

I have to tell that the first idea was to simple… But my new idea is better for sure ! I Can’t tell if I could finish the project but I have fun to model for the moment !
Probably I will draw a new sketch to find the design of the Mother Spiderspaceship…

Thanks for comments !

#123

You’ve right… the new spider way is very interesting… I’m waiting a lot of details on it head/body/etc… a hard spydtechnology :bounce:

#124

Heeeey :bounce: Spider looks amazing gpepper:thumbsup:

I like your way of thinking and using Nurbs for the body…but be carefull with trimmed surfaces…u might end up with some heavy geometry for no reason…i can’t see it i n views…but u’ve trimmed the surfaces or u just projected curves on spheres to make the fillets…if so …forget my observations about trimming …
Cool work my friend and very smart design on it !

#125

Yes, I’ve trimmed all surfaces ! some of them have just curve projected on surfaces… But I ask myself if I can convert some surfaces to poly… let’s see…
thanks for comments !

#126

hi…i love your alien character modeling…is a nice little green man…about the spider…i think is ok…the modeling look pretty clean…i have just a little comment…i think the back part of the spider is a bit big…maybe u can move the legs closer to the center of the spider so it get balanced…well maybe is not necessary …is just my point of view…but i think youre doing a nice job…and youre working fast and smooth…keep on this good way…and good luck man!..ill be watchin u!

#127

I think U’re right, that’s what I planed to do at first, but to get the “abdomen” bigger seems cool to me…

#128

Just stopping by to say I like the work you are doing, and that I agree with rattlesnake 100%…The legs should be moved at least slighty, and the back end of the body should be made smaller…These are relatively nit-picks,just trying to give some help here if possible…Doing really well Pfeiffer…:arteest:

#129

Your work on this challenge is going better and better
Keep going on like that

#130

A little screenshot from the spider…
Not already finished…

#131

Thats a great design you have there. As it is mechanical, the segments that attach the bodyparts would be mobile, allowing it move each part (an example would be the joints on deep sea diving suits). Im wondering if this could be emphasized with some modelling?

#132

I didn’t ask myself that point… Should be interresting if the challenge was an animation contest…

#133

A quick test of rendering…

#134

Amazing design…i say again on this spider…i le it very much man!!!..i keep looking at it…lol:thumbsup:

#135

Outstanding design dude!! I relly like your model!! Keep on!

#136

Gilles, I think you misunderstood what I was saying. What I commented on, thow a very minor detail, was that each segment of the body looks welded, and thus stationary. What I was asking was if you could do something about this, or perhaps you prefere it like it is. I was not suggesting that you should rigg it

To further clarify, this link below will show you what I am refering too, with a simple example.

Cheers!

#137

Ok, I understand better !
In the final render, the joints should have a different shader, like a torus joint…

#138

cool looking arachnid man…good use of polyZ to give nice noticable details…Keep up the inspiring works…

#139

Usually, I’m afraid by spiders… but this one was more dangerous, but ok for me  I can’t wait to see the textures… have you any idea of the look ?

#140

I like the spider. Great job man
Looking forward to see more.
