Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Paul Lefroy

#14

ok, been decided. If FG character added, he will be yelling off scxreen (towards viewer). The feeling wasnt quite intense enough with him just kinda slumped there. . .

#15

Almost finished the “enemy” planet. Have around 3 hours of detailing surface cities and hole rim to go.

Figured this shot will have to be rendered in several layers and put together in post. . .

Next stage will be fighters!

Once again, comments welcome.

#16

This is the same image as last, but rendered at full size/cropped. Shows the detail of planet a little better.

#17

Oh yeah. . . .also thinking about reducing the size of internal city, and having more structures.

#18

I guess that could work but it still looks similar to unicron although…it is a lot diferent odd, mmm I wonder is it going to eat planet of blow them apart like the death star from starwars. which reminds me it kinda looks similar to that too.

Still its cool.

#19

really good start … i think the last sketch its a better composition !

#20

well, finally finished modelling the enemy planet. Render times are steadily increasing though, Ill be looking at some different render options in time, when textureing begins. . .

Again, comments/crit welcome.

#21

I still think it looks like the death star form starwars anyhow it is an increadible peice of work.

Keep it up!!

#22

Man, that sucks, I hate the SW movies. . .

Have another idea, but too late to change the concept though, dont want to keep switching it around. . .oh well, keep plugging away.

Im in a texturing hell right now, can’t find my Photoshop (cleaned the PC)

Ill post the fighter model in a minute.

#23

fighter model
Textures coming soon

Basic design due to fact that several hundred will be in shot, and size will be relatively small compared to composition (largest maybe 1CM)

#24

Lots of detail man  , though it seems to be a bit chaotic.

anyway good luck with it man:thumbsup:

#25

Hey don’t worry and try emm, tking it as a compliment as I though the death star looked cool in the films.

The fighters are indeed different to what I would normally see, so don’t worry about a thing.

#26

That’s some crazy detail on the planet  !

Looking good though, much prefer the concept with the character. Nice work.

#27

Thanks guys.

Just found my photoshop disc yesterday, so I can start texturing the fighter on the weekend (wish I had more free time).

cheers.

#28

Well, I got a sick day from work, so I was able to put a bit of time to fighter textures. The image on right is going to be the size of the closest fighter (on screen), so the textures are pretty basic.

I’ll probably be posting more modelling milestones this weekend-ish.

Cheers

#29

OK, Im looking at the last picture from work, and the ship is really dark, pretty much black. . .

Need opinions if this is the way its turning out, so I can calibrate my home monitor, or work monitor.

Thanks.

#30

Emm. no offense but they look rather like metors.

I think you should highligh some of the trims abitbecause they look like big blots of blace like erm, meteors.

#31

yeah i got one word for u man!.. one word: WOW… man those details are just insane… uve put some great affort on it… i really appriciate ur work… keep the inspireing fluid flowing… :bounce: :buttrock:

Well, I just realized this morning.

With just over a month left for submissions, I dont think I’ll be able to complete the image. I’m presently on a 6-7 day work week indefinitely. I will continue posting updates, they will be few and far between, but a final image by the end date is looking grim.

Thanks for support/advice from: Acree, Jaba153, Crin, Overcontrast and DTox.

Well, who knows, I may still be able to pull something off, every morning I get half hour to do it.

Cheers all.
