Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Mike Giannakopoulos

#121

Paul, arturro, Lelantos thanks for the support I really appreciate your motivation boosts!

Would you have any comments or suggestions concerning the alien face (open the bigger image to view some details 'cause from the small one on the post most details look like noise…) or coloring the main clothes of the Council Member? I’m really stuck especially with the Council Member!

Thanks again friends!

Hi Mike…I would give the council members light clothes in both color and fabric…And the key with them would be the illumination,I think you should keep them simple, soft light tones…Give there garments a little tweak,a little twist, make them a little more un-even,non-symetrical,a little more worn…And give them a very vibrant and intense ilumination…Let this be there main hook…

The aliens should get a more overbearing appearance, stronger,a forehead and jaw that juts 9Sticks) out more…The forehead should get larger areas above and on the eye brow area…Larger skull, wider too…Jaw line could get wider too, more menacing, more out of this World, right now they look too human…unless of course this is what you want…I just think a more stylised look would be the way to go…but thats just me,this is your baby all the way Mike, you are doing a very nice job overall, and I just hope to help in some small way along the way…Go at it hard,I think you are certanly on the right road, just get in some more tweaking…Just like the rest of us…I’ll be looking in again for more, all the best for now…:arteest:

ThatĀ“s some detailled work you present here…very impressing. Very!
Be carefull with the smooth areas on your buildings, seems like thereĀ“s some areas where you should work (maybe made by too many adges meeting in one point before sub. div. is applied…hope you understand my way of explaining:))
The alien face is really great, has life. The Council Member has a little more lifeless face, but so does some faces also in the real world.

Great work here, keep on the hard work…And yes, you do have to make textures for every little detail…

Cool start to this creature. Very interesting. I want to see more!

#125

nice texturing work Mike, keep going and good luck.

Thanks for the support and feedback! Been away on a business trip last day and now I’m back.

Virtuoso thanks a lot man for critiques and giving me some point to start! I’ll adopt those as constractively possible ASAP!! :bounce:

Kragh thanks for the support and points on the buildings  . I’ll look into them on texturing time, fixing those spots you pointed!

||) |V| |^| and uwil thanks for the supporting comments!

I plan tonight be the ā€œlong Council Member late (all) - nighterā€ā€¦so I’ll be back with updates on this strange Mafia fellow later!!

#127

Hi man!..ok…in your Alien face u decided to go as i have read to a white kinda elephant skin…what bothers my imagination is that a creature with tottaly white skin has Zero temperature…so i guess try to see if a little warm color works better to your character…again light color but not tottaly white…hope i helped…cool work man…keep going!

#128

some cool designs u have here

and I read something form another thread… u a helloween fan ?

#129

Thanks for support Dim and Squibbit!
Unfortunatelly last night I couldn’t make it with the Council guy, instead of working on the textures I started creating a new robe on him!

Regarding the alien face, I have this warm problem quite a while now…thanks for pointing it out Dim, I’ll look into it asap I finish the Council Member (Planning on a birthday pic for myself and Lemog with this guy if finished!!)

Squibbit, thanks man…Actually not a real Helloween fan…more like a classic epic metal fan (Keeper of 7 Keys, mostly Manowar and some others)… I have a ā€œHeart of Steelā€ animation idea in my head since 1992 (…smells like ficolo… )

Hopefully coming soon with texture and model update on Council Member (this name is rather silly…now on I call him ā€œBobā€)…

CU soon!!

:wavey:

o , I’m a big Helloween fan myself (there’s even the pumpkin dude in my Space
Opera 2D entry , heh)

yea Manowar’s great , too! You should listen to Dark Ride CD of Helloweens newer products …also Better than Raw is a great CD.
anyways, have fun and see u later

Hey Mike, the Council Member costume is going well. Some of the elements show some originality (which is really hard in today’s seen-it-all world). The shape of the head reminds me of the 'Gorn" from the original Star Trek series. I like your concept - looking forward to seeing it come together.

heya

the council member is looking pretty good… I’d like to suggest making him a bit taller, what do u think?

I like the freaky cables coming out of his head, great!

#133

I stuck with Council Member (Bob) so I started texturing on SpitFire. Here’s where I am so far. I believe tomorrow or the day after I’ll be done with this one. All the glowing places are mental thrust amplifiers, I tried to keep the same color on the amp effect with the Council Member. C&C please…

#134

wow Mike… nice updates…!
i like a lot how you made this hull look rusty…! this noise on the edges really looks good… as well aluminium like texture for it… looking forward to see texturing finished…
keep going my friend and cheers…

#135

Ā• Thats what I call a real firespit! well done Mike! waiting for the 100%

#136

Very nice texturing i really like the spitfire
this will look extra cool with the final texturing:thumbsup:

my only crit is the glass looks a little plastic maybe adding a little reflection on it if you want to keep it with no transparency.
waiting to see the final keep it up mate:buttrock:

Paul, Climax, Lelantos

Thanks for support guys! I see now (with the daylight, 'cause when I posted the image it was waaaayyy to late) that the wings have no rust on them…so the final version will include some rust on wings too. Also the glow effect will be replaced with mental energy effect as seen in an early post in this thread…

Hope to see you soon with updates…

#138

Daniel, thanks for the support man! I was aiming at something different …but couldn’t avoid the robe cliche…

Versiden, thanks mate! I’m on a ā€œheavy tweakingā€ with the Council Member so I’ll give him a shot!

Thanks again mates!! :bounce:
