Well, hello to everyone. I’m rather new to the forum with few posts but I’ll give it a shot. So far I’ve only thought of this phrase that is going to be my initiative for the growth of the galactic super-civilization:

"It is said through eons
when the powers of fire will be resistless hope will dawn; the council of “forever” will grant access to the ever-kept “machine”. A mighty reborn of the ancient

From ashes and heart, through despair and union, with rage and wisdom"

Possibly coming up with some initial concepts the next days…:slight_smile:

OK,OK I had a short story line written done and started off with some concepts. Here is the Story for start.

[b]Civilization[/b]. Their civilization developed on the idea of using and advancing the mental powers each individual had. Their main, and more ancient, technological achievement is the mental amplifier. Of course, as every machine does, the amplifier had energy licks and couldn’t be used in a long period. Mental amplifiers started as very rare devices and briefly distributed to everyone. After several thousand years they manage to create even larger amplifiers and mount them to buildings and spaceships further enhancing their powers. To the time being each spaceship has some kind of amplifier on it. Most advanced of them create a strong energy field covering the entire spaceship with a purplish color, due to amplification.

The civilization took gigantic proportions through centuries. A vast galactic war with the last opponent race devastated their home planet. After victory over that race they managed to mentally “glue back” all the pieces of their home-planet that is a rock islands cluster that from distant looks like a unique globe. Each rock island carries a city on it all with own systems of defense and energy factories. Mainly, those islands carry major govern buildings for the whole empire.

After some more centuries of peaceful empire growth came a time where a secret society called “Fire” started growing. Recruiting from every corner of the galactic empire soon became a strong opponent and initiated hostilities with the empire. After several years of conflicts with the empire they appeared ever stronger and managed to break all defenses and head to the home-planet. The “Fire” powers where vast and acted simultaneously all over the major fleet centers leaving the empire uncovered to the final attack with a large rebel mother-ship, carrying the stronger amplifier build to time, that would destroy the very heart of the empire.

One of the rock islands is the center of the secret council of “forever” created in the beginning of the civilization as a research center. One of the forgotten experiments held at the beginning of this facility, some thousand centuries ago, was to mentally connect and tune the entire race on the planet to create a higher “machine” that would fully boost the mental powers to the maximum and minimizing to zero energy licks, performance and duration of the amplification. They made it back then and the machine was created. After several months of discussions and arguing the whole race decided to keep the “machine” secret and assign this secret to the research center. After centuries the research center diminished to a research council on inventions and development and after even more centuries became a secret council of the empire, with main focus on keeping safe the secret of the “machine”. The legend of the machine started a long time ago, soon after the experiment took place and it says:

In this most critical time of the empire where it is stroke from inside the council decided to use the “machine” on the spaceship of the emperor and, with a cunning pilot, march to the center of the sect forces. Several other spaceships will aim in destructing as many enemy spaceships as possible while the emperor ship heads to the core of the sect attack, the rebel mother ship.

Well, that’s it. I’d say is rather long but it has all the idea on my final scene (possibly post some concepts on that today or tomorrow, I’ve done simple sketch-work but seeing Dimitris’ concept thought I should try a better one)

Ok, here is the initial idea:

We are on the council’s rock island watching the procedure of equiping the imperial spaceship with the machine. Some, aircrafts depart for the outer space, some other prepare for battle rushing out from buildings. In the back we watch some major dog-fight with the rebelion fleet a rock island departing. On the upper left corner comes the great threatening mother-ship.

This is the very first idea drawn, much more spaceships, humans on the ground, bots preparing the imperial spaceship will be added along with FX of explosions, mentally-blue hair, amplifiers effects covering the departing rock island and the spaceships and other…

Here is some initial sketch of a secret council member. Wearing a mask with some amplifiers on the back of his head to boost his mental powers. No hands shown, wearing something like a glove. Currently looking more like an emperor with all that staff in front of him…I’m gonna remove them

Here is a typical individual of my galactic empire. You can see the mental Hair on his head and the diversity of the hand arm thing with the thumb in a most unusual place. Actually, no hands needed for this guy he use psionic and telekinetics to move and create things. Do you find the idea of a braid on his mental hair attractive?

Concepts lood good so far. I think the braided mental hair would look nice, but maybe a bit cliche. Keep up the good work.

Good luck! Great concept and a cool and hugh story behind it. The yellow-eyed alien is great. have you already though about what material the clothes are made of?

This is the facility for creating Atmosphere and Gravity for a rock island. Every rock island has at least 4 of these facilities placed on opposite end of the island as shown in the image above. Several Guard Towers are placed on it. The facility size is gigantic, and in the final image is going to be seen from quite a distance. More to come.

This is one of the Robot carriers helping to add the “machine” to the imperial spaceship. With rotating and expanding arms. The final model will have more dust and scratches on it.

Mike, you’ve got an interesting storyline, some nice character sketches, and a hugely ambitious preliminary sketch that looks like it’s going to keep you busy right up to the last minute! I’m particularly interested to see how the characters come together, as it looks like you must have some experience with cloth simulation. Best of luck!

Here is some initial thoughts on the effect of mental amplifier. This one (the red sphere is the amplifier) transforms mental powers to propulsion energy (the yellowish top part). How do you find this visualization of my idea?

Mike, the “mental amplifier” effect looks interesting, though it might be wise to experiment some with the color scheme (I’m a bit skeptical about the yellow). From a technical standpoint, I’m curious as to how you actually plan on achieving the effect – particularly the crackling energy part. Any initial ideas?

Thanks for the comments. Actually the mental amplifier will be of many uses: Mental to propulsion, mental to atmosphere etc. So I need some differentiation on the colors mental (light blue) to all different one of them…do you have a suggestion?

Actually the above image is a default max render: Used some atmosperic apparatus with fire explosion volumetric and a material with some levels of noise on several maps…
