An afterthought… IMO, you should try to attenuate the lights coming from below. Like this they seem a bit unnatural.

Wow, the plasma thing looks awesome! The bluish lighting makes a huge difference also.

Looking much much better.

#194

this lighting is awsome:thumbsup: I have no crits. Maybe only would prefer the darker background. But still, it looks great. Can’t wait to see more:twisted:

#195

thanks guys:bounce:

#196

hey Eclisod, ur scene is looking great… but somehting is bothering me a little bit… the sky is too blue… try soem sort of gradient with less saturated color. and abt the lighting i gotta go with Doublecrash… and also you might want to add lights in in the side o the building so that it emits a natural looking bounced light… right now the lights comming from the window of the buildings dont seem to affect anything arouud it… alos u mght want to intencify the light comming fom the center glowy thing… well thats abt it… hope it helps… keep rocking mate ur doing cool… good luck

#197

added a sky. nothing more to say, adding traffic separately to the scene as postwork will be hell.

#198

I like your progress, with these colors you have got a nice mood. The background looks amazing, how did you make the clouds? It’s great, but I still think that it should be a little bit darker

#199

the clouds are from different pics i took from korea, romania, england, canada, wherever i’ve spent my time during the past 7 years

they’re postworked into the thing, and the only part of the starfield i’ve kept is the one that is shown in between the cloud breaks.

#200

Looking great - only crit. is that IMO the right hand side buildings are too blue - maybe try darkening them up.

The cloudy sky looks awesome.

#201

already ahead of you

#202

Oh no, I dread to think what’s coming up next (you might read my mind again!!! lol).

Can’t wait to see the next update, whatever it may be.

#203

You were thinking pink horsies on a string with light blue Poser fairies too??? OMG!!! :bounce:

finally found your thread nice to see a pupil beating the master lol, well roch might have some tricks up his sleaves though.

#205

Stop reading my mind I tell you! Stop! Stop! How did you know I was thinking that?!?! LOL.

Eagerly await to see the changes.

#206

You know, ultimately I jumped into a hole that was way too deep for me. For the record, I’ve never done something even close to this scale. I think it came out okay, this render being as close as possible to the final render. Added some traffic, the guy on the balcony, lens flares for the buildings, etc. The modelling in itself is decent (buildings-wise), but the perspective, lighting and compositing betray the fact that it’s ultimately a pretty piese de dilletance, as it were. Basically, it sucks. All the same I want to finish this. Bare in mind the fact that it’s Bryce 5 I’m working with, and a 200mb Photoshop file.

Final crits, comments, etc, are welcome!

#207

oh yeah, and when I say a 200mb PS file, I’m talking about postwork on a Dell 5100 laptop

#208

Hey very cool use of colored lighing for your city…a great mood …I have not yet read though your whole thread…but do you plan on adding any ships buzzing around the city…that would give a nice sense of movement and life to this great piece of arcitecture…just a thought…keep it up…

#209

i’ve toyed with different versions of traffic. the problem is that the render was never improved from the beginning. basically i put the buildings together without much thought for the traffic, and then the scene simply became too large for my comp to handle with anything else. everything after was an attempt to save myself from a desperate situation just through postwork

adding more traffic would mean a lot more postwork keeping in mind the original lighting and such. all my experiments haven’t yielded anything interesting, so I just made some ships travelling around.

Hi there

First time I´m visiting your thread, funny thing, as it is very beutifull work you present.

Like the mude, and colorpalette very much. Only thing is the words from cg-networks; “The task is to create an iconic image that captures a pivotal moment in a vast galactic spanning civilisation”. I have problems finding this in your image. But please note that I think it´s very beutifull anyways. I just hope the above thing will not be an issue in the final judging.

Awesome work.

oh there is a story in the picture, it’s just not really brought properly into focus. That potted plant on the balcony actually has a galaxy growing in the fruit that’s hanging over the rim
