Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Maximiliano Rocamora

#101

Nicely done maximiliano…clean and smooth…A nice amount of details as well…Your Opera grows nicely…:arteest:

#102

Here’s the textured version of the ARG-Frigate “Morning Glory”. (I hope you like the name =D ) Some textures are a little repeated or the tiles can be see, but is enough detail for the size and camera distance. I’m trying to keep the style on all human spaceships.

#103

lookin good man, keep it up

#104

that is a cool idea!
men I can’t wait to see that octopus done.

#105

Looking cool.I do like the name as well. Now how are you texturing already… …I got some pallette ideas.but far far away from texture time…back I go to modeling, and I think you got a pretty ambitious plan here Maximiliano, and looks like your handling real well…Keep working hard,it’s paying off…Morning glory is looking nice…:arteest:

Virtuoso, Canche, Nrek, thanks a lot for the support!!! It help a lot when you spend a lot of time on the challenge, I have to work tomorrow saturday but then I have all the weekend free, I plan to have a final scene ready to show (except for the main both ships of course). I finally choose the planet color and retouch the space texture. I’ll try to refining everything before start the most dificult part on my scene, the battlecruiser and the squid.

I also want to share this new idea to the concept, I plan to add a dark cloud around the squid, like the real octopus leave in the water when they want to escape, I think this will add balance to the scene, and more fx stuff on the battle side. I’m also trying to define the idea of a ship trapped in a tentacle.

I have to push a little more my brain :wip: :wip: :wip:

#107

Main Scene Update, new colors for the Paladin planet, space background reworked, completed version of the ARG-Frigate “Morning Glory”, added. Almost finished before begin the main battle cruiser modeling.

#108

I’ll start the battle cruiser, and I’m looking if somebody knows a fan-site o something with material about alien I & II, I forgot the name of the main ship, I just looking for references/inspiration, maybe somebody can give some links. thanks!

also if any want to give some c&c about the colors and background is very welcome. :wavey:

#109

i like the battle scene, looks like a massive war. just the planet behind, seems that it lacks athmosphere, anyway it’s not yet the final image. move on:thumbsup:

#110

Cool, great scene, lots of dynamics  Like uwil said, the planet needs atmosphere, only crit.
Your fast in this contest, keep it up!:scream:

#111

thanks guys, can somebody showme some ref pics of web sites? I’ll try to put more effort on the planet, its a important piece of the composition.
I also start to make the concept a little bigger, the ARG-Fighters are almost invisible at this resolution.

#112

its lookig awsome. i think the planet looks good now but it needs that clow like it had in previous renders.

#113

looks v.cool -the ships are coming along nicely.

I look forward to seeing the main ship and the octupus become refined models, with all the intricate details you’re putting into the other models (be it by geometry or textures).

I agree with the planet lacking an atmosphere - shouldn’t be too hard to create one though.

Good luck.

#114

I worked again on the background, I hope the planet looks good know, please let me know if the atmosphere looks good or its too big or too bright.

#115

In my opinion, the planet doesn’t look real. THe atmosphere is weird. Should be more dense and maybe thicker. Also there is one star that is almost in front of your planet. And other stars should not be seen beyond the atmosphere layer. And the bump on the planet to heavy. If there is an atmosphere then image of planet should be blurred and hidden by some clouds maybe…

Dunno, just my thoughts when i look on your planet. Maybe I’m wrong. Hope it helped.

Andrey.

#116

I think it looks very vibrant, even beautiful.I dont think clouds to obscure things are always needed…I love the clear clean look.I think the bumps are right,I mean for what we know that planet could have mountains many times the hieght of what we have here…It is fantasy/sci fi…I like it,I think it’s cool, and vibrant…Nice!:arteest:

#117

Thanks Andrey and Virtuoso, both opinions are very very helpful, about the bump, I’m more with Virtuoso, I know its a little heavier, but I prefer in that way, about the atmosphere, Andrey is right, I did’nt saw the stars around the planet, I will work on that. A very little more dense and thicker and be good.
thanks a lot guys!

#118

Personally, I like a lot the strong bump on the planet. Makes it look… alien

Stefano

#119

Hi,

i like the planet too… it’s not look real, but it’s look cool!
I think, it give the image a “fantasy” look, it can be nice, depend of your final render, but for me, i think it really can be cool.
Otherwise, nice update man! Keep posting!! :buttrock:

Yeah, I have to agree - whilst it doesn’t look ‘realistic’, that doesn’t matter -for starters what is realistic, how many of us have actually seen planets with our own eyes in that much detail - only the lucky few - and so it can be argued that anything that varies on what we concieve to be a planet could actually be a planet existing somewhere in our cosmos.

Also, I think it gives a very alien feel, and I like that - so I wouldn’t personally change it.
