Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Maximiliano Rocamora

#81

thanks Steve, your advice is good, but keep in mind this, the cargo, fighter, and the frigate, will be far from camera, so if they looks good at middle distance, is enough detail

Ill plan to spend weeks if I need it to make the battlecruise and the squid. Im also a little new to composition and post-prod, so maybe I“ll need a lot of extra time to add colors, smoke, particles and explotions!

#82

Es bueno ver a un compatriota en esta competencia.
Tu idea es muy, Suerte!

#83

That ARG fighter is looking good plaguelord. I have one crit though. What color are the wings? You have this grungy look that is great, but weathering usually appears at the edges, especially the leading edges, but you have a nice blue at the edges, making it look like the other dirtier white color is the main color. If it were mine, I would switch the colors.

#84

I’m my first attemp adding explotions and some layer composition. I hope is going in the right way.
Also you can see a progress on the scene, the completed spaceships and the new texture of the planet, the name of the planet is Paladin.

#85

Nice composition, and the layout angle is a good one.Quite a wild happening going on there Maximiliano…(Like your name  )…I think you are getting along nicely here, pretty far along, with good results…Keep it going strong…:arteest:

#86

Now with the frozen version of Paladin Planet. Tell if you prefer the warm colors or the cold colors. I’ll add also some dark blue smoke-clouds on the squid area.

#87

its a tough choice but im kinda thinking the frozen planet looks a bit better, not so much visual tension between that and the clouds as in the organe one. And you models look great in the composition.

#88

I like both colors actually, the colors are two of my personal favorites…It really depends on the rest of the planned color scheme for your models etc, etc…Battle would call for the orange/yellow,but a more aqua or frozen area would call for the Blue tones…either way I think you have a very nice color pallette to choose from with both, not much help here I know, but I can confirm that you have two very nice choices…:arteest:

#89

I can’t be of much help here… only giving my personal taste: I like more the cold color version. maybe because I’m associating space with blue more than other colors…

Stefano

#90

Just an idea but i think the blue one help to look more the battle, but it depend that what you woul like to show, what is the ā€œcenterā€ of your image.

I hope you understand what i want to say…

#91

thanks guys, well, all of you and my friend vote for the cold colors, so be ā€œPaladin the frozen planetā€
I’ll try even more cold colors, like dark blue or black/blue clouds… but I’m still working on the Frigate, Steve was right, I need more time. so I need another day to finish the modeling stage of the ship

thanks all

Virtuoso, you are a politic/diplomatic? because you say a big explanation a leave more confused  heheh j/k! (yeah, my name sounds a little strange on some areas of this planet!!lol

#92

Well, this is the color scheme for the planet, and the corrected ilumination, I hope to get a nice warm/cold gradient with the explosions and the squid falling to the green/grey metal, blue planet and deep space. Also you can see a little bit of the new Arg-Frigate. well, I have to take a break now… I’m tired… see all of you tomorrow!

#93

Id just like to say that youve made a great start on your challenge.

I think the grey on the planet should go. Make the entire planet blue. Make the part that was grey a bit darker. ATM the blue/grey mix doesnt really look that good IMO.

Just posting some constructive criticism so your work will look it’s best.

#94

love the whole giant space squid idea lol. Keep it up mate! Wonna see more!!1

#95

Very nice concept.

Looking at that fabulous squid thing it seems a shame that he doesn’t have one of the smaller ships caught in one of his loose tentacles. The fighter crashing into one of them is cool, but what if he had grabbed one of those little guys and was waving him around?

Great stuff so far,
Dave.

#96

Just a quick note to say i am watching ur thread, great model, REALLY great texture cant wait to see more, go bro go.

#97

thank you guys for the support, Its really important to me.

Rhezz, all critics are welcome, the gray halo is because I forgot the change the fallof from the light blue version of the planet, this night I will post a corrected version, I made some changes on the space too, its more cold and dark now. Now the atmosphere is more dark blue/purple, look much better, thanks for the advice!

swamps, the fighters are very small against the squid, but maybe he can grab a cargo ship… mmm, I will play with that idea tomorrow… thanks!

#98

Looking cool - the planet looks good, but I’m really waiting to see the updated version before I comment fully - as I think then it’ll look damn awesome.

It would be so cool if you could have the squid holding a ship, any ship! lol - it would just make the squid seem more powerful - the ship didn’t just crash into him, but he’s also attacking him.

Good luck - I’m eagerly awaiting your next installment.

#99

I finish the model of the ARG Frigate. Its a bigger ship so the detail will look better from the camera distance.
Its around 30k polys.

Another view.
