Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Maximiliano Rocamora

#61

I’ve noticed that one of your ship-models-style looks different from the main concept you seem to be using. But that’s not so important… Keep it up… BTW I really like the color choise

#62

what ship? the light fighter? because the concept are mainly boxes. Maybe you mean the shape. I started the the arrow shape but I dont like it at all, so I change to the classic airplane shape.

thanks 4 the comment!

#63

Great job on the textures and the ships so far…jeeze I can’t beleive you’ve gotten to texuring already…hey slow down a bit and let us all catch up pleze… :argh:

#64

hy man!! nice work, and nice ships… one sugestion… try to chanfer the coner-edges to get a more quad curve!

keep up!

#65

This is final model and texture for the light-figthers. For the camera distance its not necessary make paint variations like the cargo’s.
The material is a little bit dense, multiple blend’s, mix and mask’s everywhere!
Let me know if you like it!

#66

Bottom view, the most fighter will be seen from this point to the camera.

#67

My most favorite image of yours so far is the background you had blended. Plan to do any more adjustments to it soon?

#68

I love the way the texture looks like paint that has been scratched etc. - very nice texture work going on here!

#69

Hey plaguelord

I really like your model and textures too, really nice … the only thing I don’t like so much is the text on the wings … it is (in my opinion) a little too big and probably there is too much text (and it is repeated exactly on both wings, I think that breaking the symmetry would be better) … maybe I’m biased by photos of real airplanes where the text on the hull is really small and much shorter (typically only some letters) …

but please, take these as comments from a really beginners, so don’t take them too seriously … keep up these cool project and let us see more nice pictures, good work !!

Bye, Riccardo

#70

Very good texturing indeed. I think orporick is right, IMO you should try to avoid the repeating of the text on both wings. Maybe just one of them?

#71

Texture looks good.
Though i would suggest lowering the bump a bit…
keep it up:)

#72

Yeah, i like you ARG Fighter, its pretty cool and the textures too:thumbsup:

#73

wow, thank you guys for the reply’s, these really help.
The tips for the text is good, in one wing can be better, I intentionally increase the size, because from the camera distance is difficult to see anything :S

Now I’ll start the frigate, then the main challenge, the battle cruiser and the squid.

Also I will put an update version of the concept

for the background I will plan to make some changes on the planet surface.

thanks!

#74

the Arg-Fighter looks better, thanks for the tip!!

#75

The concept with the cargo’s and fighters added. I plan to make the first left fighter on the screen explode against the squid tentacle.

#76

Hey, nice work so far! Cool texturing and composition of the frame. The squid’s gonna be mechanic, matrix-like? Cool concept and great progress. Keep it up! I’ll be checking it out frecuently.

#77

the layout for the image is a very nice composition, the details in the textures of the ship are nice, have you thought of using a displacement map on it?

looking good so far, show me more

#78

Its very new, but this is how its going, I worked on it for 2 hours now. Too WiP for say something yet… I hope to finish the modeling tomorrow.

#79

thanks for the nice comment guys.

pablo, the squid will be a mix between high-tech/matrix metal/dark space creature :stuck_out_tongue: just kidding, the main objetctive will be a strong and scary look.
dshelton, no, I use only a bump map, you have an example a few pages back.

The concept is v.cool - I like the composition, and your space craft look great when put into context with the rest of the scene.

One thing I’d like to mention though. Whilst it’s great to get the modelling done and out the way early if you can, trying to finish the modelling in a few days - considering you still have the main character (squid) to do, might take longer - so don’t skimp on quality for quickness - if time is needed take it, 'cos I’d hate to see you waste a great idea…

so good luck with ya modelling, and show us what ya do!
