First of all thanks for the valuable help on painting. But do not worry about the painting here, I made an appointment for the 3d part of this challenge and (I hope) sooner you may see the completed robot with a good metal material over it

However, since my backround leans on my past 2d drawing works I wanted to get comments and critics of a talented 2d contestant. Please time to time visit my page and watch the developments.

PS: (what was it about mastering or unbelieving etc.?)

#22

Opps sorry, thought you had switch to doing the 2D Challenge. Anyway 3D gives you strong option to making that robot look even more convincing, with textures and a vast tools to adjust. I don’t think I could help much on the 3D technical side, since I’m weak in that area but I could do a little pointing out if I do see anything that could help improve your work. With so many Contestant in this challenge I will definitely try to get through to check your work every now an then.

Sorry I don’t explain my English words very well. In that phrase “this challenge is all about learning and mastering the unbelieve” (opps should be *unbelievable) I was trying to say that this challenge is not only about submitting you work and waiting to see the result. Its much more then that. I think its about learning and doing things that we never have tried before, that way we really push ourselves to do bigger and better things. Even if you have entered this competition late you have already made the effort to do something amazing. If you learn in the process (which I’m sure you will) you are already a winner in your heart because you can take those achievement to apply it to other things you do in the real world. That’s why it was great to see you here even if you are a late comer.

Hey man great work so far though its hard to tell exactly where you are at or where it is going. The original battle sketch doesn’t have a focal point or enough detail to make out whats what. I do like the progress on the background but would like to see everything in position at least to know what the final comp is going to look like.

#24

Interesting story. The focal point is obviously the interaction between the robot and the commander but it is not visually obvious what the nature of that interaction is. It’s not clear if the commander is giving or receiving the device that is in his hand.

If the robot was dead so to speak and his arm was on the ground outstretched clutching the device, the commander could be leaning down to pick it up. Not sure if that helps.

Hi,

Im dropping in to see if I can throw some postive reiforcements to your overal piece. First off, I would hold off on all the concept sketches and maybe do small thumbnails of what you want as there really isnt much time left to this challenge. I would really try to get a feeling of foreground to middle ground then background. Try to provide depth with a better shot angle, as since this is 3d you are able to get any angle with the flip of a mouse. There are theories of perspective and point of view and how the eye travels. You can look those up online to help portray what your looking for. As for modeling, looks good, Ide just keep on modeling what is necessary and start texturing as much as possible. Keep the updates coming, I hope you can finish, the robot sketch looks great btw!

Hey this is looking great. I would suggest to put some nuts and bolts in if you have time for details. It kind of gives the indication that this discovery robot was built by the human’s, if that is with the flow of the storyline. So far so good. Jeep it up.

Hey, you are right, i tried to make it seem like “made by humans” showing both hi-tech and some traditional pieces of machines. You are really good in observing. Although i plan to make it (regarding the possible technological innovations) seamless and free of apparent nuts, rivets; i plan to add some more “familiar” device parts :). plus ball bearing pivot rings.

You are right. As you see I gave up feeding the conceptual sketches and directly into the design whilst modeling for the least.

for SMURPH and x_SE7EN_x and EVERYBODY

Well well, I am about to show the scene’s landscape and start to put the items and characthers on to ground. I want to make the scene more dramatic. I trimmed the storyline like that : “… whilst they are running away, one carrier combat robot get dumped due to its heavy damage malfunction. They must strip off the battery, ammunition and other energy units to maintain the long pace with enough supply to other robots they use…”

Dramatization begins with that story and continues with the artificial fear of the other damaged robot. I plan to show it’s position in the following WIPs.

Actually my aim is to catch the senses of being alerted, FEAR, FATIGUE, WILL, EAGER and the moment which people’s situation when questioning their position in the happenings and WISH to SURVIVE.

I try to put these in the scene and add a few surprises to make my work has some PRIVILAGEs.

I CHANGED MY CONCEPT SKETCH
I BELIEVE THAT NOW IT IS MORE SUITABLE TO THE CHALLENGE REQUIREMENTS (BEING A PIVOTAL POINT OR AN IMPORTANT SEQUENCE ETC.)

ALSO IN THIS SCENE THERE IS A VIEW OF A FROZEN MOMENT OF AN ACTION.

STORY IS HERE:
PEOPLE ON EARTH TRIES TO MAKE USE OF ALL THE BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY TO BUILD NEW SETTLEMENTS AND CITIES TO EVACUATE CONTAMINIATED AREAS; BUILD NEW CITIES AND FORM NEW SETTLEMENTS. FOR THIS PURPOSE, THEY ALSO BUILD HUGE SPACECRAFTS WITH A HOPE.

ONE DAY ONE GIGANTIC COLONY SHIP EXPERIENCES A DISASTROUS ACCIDENT AND CRASH LANDED IN A WILD AREA, FULL OF LEAPS, VALLEYS AND ROCK FILLED ABYSSES.

MY SCENE CATCHES A VIEW OF THE “FINDING SURVIVED COLONISTS AFTER DAYS OF SEARCH”.

HEROES ARE IN A HOVERCRAFT LIKE FUTURISTIC VEHICLE AND WITH VISUAL CONTACT OF THE SURVIVED PEOPLE OVER CRASH AREA THEY MANEOUVER SUDDENLY WITH GREAT HAPPINESS.
