Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Laurent Antoine Lemog
lotaH -> for the moment… I don’t know  I’m searching for something special, in adequation with the mood of caricatural sketches of this time, in 1850… but I understand that’s not very easy… I must do a lot of tests…
Dimitris -> hmmm… I’m must take care
arturro -> hmmm… then, I’m must run faster…:bounce:
lotaH -> no man… for the moment, I don’t stop… I must find a bit of courage… but I’ve work a little this night, and I can post nearly few tests of composition…
gulliver3 -> Thanks my friend… and I hope for you that you find a great idea/way to continue your challenge… with or without aliens…
This is the first test of composition…
In my first idea, I want a portrait format but I don’t know if it’s a good way… certainly no but I post it anyway.
The base of the elements I want in the scene was…
- 1 Omniship which will be posed on the station,
- 1 man with flags to help the OmniShip,
- a couple of tourist who want to take the OmniShip to go to the moon…
- 1 moonship which go to the earth,
- 1 moonship which go to the moon,
- some Rapid’Dragon to escort the MoonShips
- 1 earth or moon in the background (I prefer earth)…
Now, I must find the better composition, before to continue to work of this project… before to start the Station…
For the second test… I’ve change in landscape… maybe that’s better for a spatial aspect… space appear more grand like that…
The Omniship is always the center of the composition…
This third one appear more larger, more grand… certainly the better way for me (and for the moment…)
I must do a lot of tests…
In the same spirit that the previous one… but I think that composition need air… we focus on the passengers, that’s a good thing and that’s very near my first idea… but this framing need something other, and I don’t know exactly what…
or maybe I must do a mix with the 3 and 4…
Now I’m waiting your choice… I hope one of them agree you… for the moment, I prefer the # 3… and you ?
hello lemog… i have one small thing to note about the compositions you have set up here… with the omniship being in the center of the comps and the moonships being more distant, there is no real indicator that the moonship is a fair bit larger than the omniship…
I know the red dragons give scale to the moonships, but perhaps a red dragon escort for the omniship as well, that will give the viewer a common reference point so we can tell the size relationship of all of your elements. just a thought…
OH and yes, definitely number three
Thanks Stork ! and good point for you ! I must test that… to add a Rapid’Dragon near the Omniship… I note it… Thanks ![]()
The compositions are looking great! ![]()
My favorite so far is #4. Agree with stork on the size matter…
Man there is something I don’t get from these comps…there is no “pivotal moment”! With all this ship movement about the movement it’s more like an “everyday moment” which is not bad at all…but it’s kind of “off topic”…
My suggestion would be that the pivotal moment is the opening ceremony for the new ship (omni- or moon- ship) that will take you to the stars!! So a proper ribbon with the mayor perhaps, some Rapid’Dragon’s flying around for security issues…a greater dock, and a little air movement of the other type of ships doing everyday route…A nice sense or irony would be to name the ship titanic-ish…
I hope I helped a little and gave some ideas…
Background song never stopped playing man: “…let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars…”
hiya
I agree on stork on his comments…
I like 3 also. I’m not sure about the angle for the ship in the bottom right corner though - where is it headed towards?
So far the 3rd one definitely looks the best, but I feel it can somehow look even better. Right now I find everything’s too scattered, rather confusing.
I don’t know, maybe it’ll look better when it’s all done up and you have depth of field to help out.
Cheers!
:buttrock:
Terrarc -> Thanks man for these great advice… that’s very important… I see what would be better in this scene… something more grand, no ? an action with more force… then, It’s a bit different of my first way, but for what not… I must thinking more… :buttrock:
Versiden -> You’re right for the bottom MoonShip direction… I don’t like too… I see that only after I do the composition… good point to modify… Thanks my friend
markovicd. -> Good choice… hahahahahahaha ![]()
keetmun -> mmmh… I don’t think to add some depth of field… cause I want (if I can) a no realistic aspect of the scene… but maybe I’ll must change… maybe this way not the goodest… anyway… thanks for your feeling man :wavey:
Hi Lemog,
Tanks for you replay!!
My favorit is #4 - appear more details!
Which software you use?
Congratulations for render…very good!!
bye and good luck - ![]()
You like my MachineFlesh entry… I’m so happy… at first view… not a lot of lot people like it… then thank you :bounce:
and my software is MAYA forever
Hi Lemog! Im viewing this post for a long time now, and I really like what youre doing!
I have a few comments (please excuse my bad english):
I think that The Moon is better than Earh, for two reasons:
- the main subject of your scene is the travel to the moon, and the moon in the backround will give the best mood for your story and scene.
- I think that the yellow bright illumination of the moon will create a very good mood on the scene.
I liked the station the most in the 4th test, when its a bit big. Also, I liked the moon in the 4th test more than the 3rd one… But apart form that I think that the 3rd test is the best!
Keep going! Youre the best! ![]()
Thanks for your post assafk…
I very good idea… I know that the moon may create a very good moond… but the problem is that the travel of this OmniShip was to go to the moon… if not, I must change the direction of it… then, I’m must do this test too… in fact, I can do this test at the end, at the lighting moment… :bounce:
Hi Lemog!
The #5 is good, very good!!
I think that it lacks some smoke to improve the scene. Perhaps a ship with defect!
good luck ñ good job!
