I just started  and this is the first work i’ve made with my first pen tablet (not bat for 2 hours). Well it is a scene I had for some time in my head… a long time ago a civilization far far away gains it’s freedom after eons of war.

ps. I’ll probably update the concept in few days (add colors and make the ships look ok)

#4

Lol thx…

btw my name is Kamen no “r” it’s Bulgarian (well that’s where I’m from a small country on the northen border of greece and west from the black see… can’t miss it if you have a world map  ) and no I’m not a girl

#5

Could you explain your picture a little?

#6

yeah… sorry.

Now it’s some planet… a home world (don’t have a name for it yet). The crystal-like things around it are some sort of planetary defenses and at the picture you see them fire. Each of the 6 crystals is sending lightnings of energy that first manifests in a ‘ball’, then it is fired as a ray (we don’t need to get technical here  ).

So this is the moment when the final massive invasion on that home world is being defeated and the very last flagship of the bad guys (don’t have a name) is being destroyed (the big ship blowing). War comes to an end and every 1 is happy… you’ll see better what i have in mind when I (if I) update the concept.

The story behind it is inspired by FreeSpace 2, particularly the moment when millions of massive juggernauts are sieging and forcing a star (Capella) to go supernova… well here I thought of millions of ships invading a planet of and ancient and elder civilization that gave up exploring the universe eons ago, because there was nothing left to explore. The guys attacking them want their wisdom. The title ‘Freedom… at last…’ is because it is the end of the war that was raging for endless years, thus not related to the guys living on that planet, it means freedom for all others (represented by the smaller ships cruising around) that were enslaved (or whatever) by the bad guys  whos whole fleet was crushed beyond repair, and likely their whole civilization is about to become extinct

#7

this one of the small ships

#8

that’s what the flagship should look like

#9

Hello Kamen!
I’m sorry for that mistake…will not happen again
I like your sketches, specially the space ships. About your concept, I like it. Maibe you could improve the composition of the image.
Keep it up!

No problem… you ain’t the first and you wouldn’t be the last  i got used to it… it’s an unusual name after all.

Here is one more concept. I wasn’t sure if it’s going to look ok so i did a quick low-poly model render incudet… oh I cant post attachments… I’ll submit an entry it in a min

#11

that’s the concept

#12

that’s the basic model.

#13

It looks good! What software are you using? For a basic model is ok, I am interested in seeing some more detail. Besides that, I like your designs…kind of organic.
Keep on working!
Nicolas

#14

Thanks Nicolas
I use photoshop for concepts, textures and 2d’s and 3ds max 6 for the 3d models (aiming at the max 7  ). I done another spaceship concept and next on my list is making some concepts for the spaceship’s wrecks and over the weekend I should have the planet’s texture done.

#15

That’s suppouse to be bigest of the smaller ships.

#16

kamen, the concept sketch are clear as well as the story. the modeling is quite fast, love to see the texture version too. looking forward to your update. godspeed.

#17

Thanks uwil I’m almost done with the planets texture… I used the earth as refference and ‘Terraformed’ it… lol it’s all green so actually a gaia type of planet if you’ve ever played Master of Orion you must have heard of this type of planets. Now I’m changing the look and count and position of the continents. I guess it should be done in 2-3 hours.
