Latest Update: Modeling: More modeling / coposition test

Seems like I am going really so on this. This is just a test of the background, and foreground cliffs. I also added the rescue ship. For now it is just a clone of the crash. By next week I hope to have a new ship design hovering above the wreck

Like many others, I have had a number of ideas bouncing around. This is one of them.
Millions of years from now, after some global catastrophy, the current dominant species (in this sketch it is a hybrid mechanical / animal species, maybe it is completely mechanical) uncovers the fossilized remains of humans. As one of them ponders the first human skull they have seen, the rest of the archaeological site is visible in the middle ground, and the bustling, modern robot city is in the background.

Just one idea though.

O.K., so I haven’t worked on this for a while. I have come up with a new concept, which I think I will persue. This sketch shows a spaceship that has just crashed on a planet somewhere. In the sky, a rescue ship has come and is rescuing the survivors (the little figures being hoisted up on cables into the belly of the rescue ship. In the foreground, a figure is waving to the rescue ship not to leave without him. Not sure if it is a spacesuited person, or a robot yet. In my mind, it is one of the crew that went to explore, and has come back late.

So, I just uploaded a concept I came up with last week.
This render represents what I put together over the weekend: my first spaceship model and the model of the planet surface and impact crater. Textures and light are not final yet, just an indication. Any feedback is more than welcome.

I have something that may help inspire you! It is a song I made a couple years ago for a music video concept.

Cosmic Clock Cafe (story behind the song) It is 682342 AD and only robots have survived. Having all the information of mankind archived upon disks, including their genetic code, they focus their attention upon space-time relocation. The sun has gone Red Giant and will soon devour the Earth. The robots gather together at the Cosmic Clock Cafe in order to download the memory of man - their creators.

If it inspires your vision, that would be cool. In any case, I’m interested and waiting to see what direction your going to commit to. Awesome looking crash site test render!

Yeah, I went back and forth a few times as to which direction to go. In the spirit of “space opera” though, I didn’t think that the robot archaeologist had enough drama to convey in the single final image. Maybe I am wrong. I guess we willl see.

Excellent start, Ilove the concepts, and the modeling is spot on! The robot guy looks a little like sunny out of IRobot, maybe you should change the design a little to get more origionality.

Great start with a nice render as they say  Looks promesing, keep up the good work!

Nice to be getting feedback. Thanks.

To tell the truth, I havent seen I Robot. You are right though, the riobot im my sketch does look like the I Robot robots. At this point I am proceding with the spaceship crash / rescue concept, so unless I switch again, I guess it won’t matter.
Lots more work to do…

amazing that crash, is very clasic that moment, very epic.

if you like put some smoke or fire, it shows that the ship is resiently crashed
