Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Jason Maguire

#21

Hi guys, thanks for your comments.

I completely agree with your critique, I’ll fix up the shoulders and give him a more curved back before I start texturing the robe.

Hi guys!

After another short break (was distracted by ā€œUru: Ages Beyond Mystā€ this time!) I’m back to work again.

I’ve made some adjustments to the facial structure of the Elder and made a start on his texturing.

#23

Great work so far! I like every part of it. Maybe only make those guys more stooped or bended down… it would look more realistic

good job! I’m waiting for more

#24

Very nice updates and that guy look very realistic
no crits for now keep up the good work:thumbsup:

#25

wow… this is great…

texturing and modelling is awesome… I like the table and lamp designs…

#26

Thanks guys, I’m glad you like it!

I should be making a start on texturing the robe soon.

#27

Looking very nice Jason…Your doing an overall very good job here.I like the whole thread…In your latest update I could only suggest (A taste thing) so dont mind it too too much…You can perhaps give him a little more red and brown to the skin pallette…And lower the wrinkles or folds in his forehead a touch…Either way you have some real nice work here, keep this up,I’ll watch for more…

#28

Made a start on texturing the robe, still needs some work I think. Maybe it’s too dark? what do you guys think?

#29

Virtuoso: Thanks for your comment! I fixed up the wrinkles on his head a little. I’ll add some more colour to the texture aswell, thanks!

#30

More texturing tests.

#31

Texturing looks nice, but I think your way of lighting is waht really makes you special. Haven’t really seen a lighting setup like yours, especially for the character. Nice stuff!

Cheers
:buttrock:

#32

Excellent progress i really like his textures very nice lighting

you did a great job here keep it up mate:thumbsup:

#33

Made a start on texturing the scene, still needs some work. Small lighting test aswell, I think it may be a little too dark, what do you guys think?

#34

Many thanks for your comments keetmun & Lelantos.

#35

Yes! It starts to look very impressive! I see that you changed their poses a little bit and now they look very natural! What renderer did you use? I think that the lams on the sides are too bright and they catch viewer’s eyes too much.

#36

Looking good!

You may want to throw a bit of rim light on the two figures on the left and right from the wall sconces. It’s hard to guage the darkness of the piece without the BG element… so far it looks great!

nice work!

I made a start on the exterior, I decided to go with a stormy setting so I may have to relight the main scene.

I wanted to make a large Metropolis on the outside but the building these guys are in is supposed to be the tallest in the city. I was thinking of maybe just showing the tops of a few buildings poking out of the water to make it look more like it’s sinking, what do you guys think?

#38

arturro: Thanks! I agree about the lamps, I’ll tweak them. I’m using the Maya software renderer.

cgkrusty: Thanks, I’m glad you like it! I agree they might fade out a little, I’ll try putting some rim lights on them, thanks.

#39

More work on the exterior.

Here’s a small composition test with the two scenes together. How does it look?
