Great concept art. I personally like the first concept better, I think it has a “grand-er” feel to it.
I look forward to your progress.

My vote is for the second concept…the forms, palette, and dynamic composition are all great.

I don’t understand every part of your 2nd sketch but i’m looking forward to see more, the colors are nice anyway…
Great feel and colors in that one my friend… just keep going, I know you still not got what you have in mind
JamesMK,ChrisThatGuy,madshooter,centavrus: Thank you!
Dutchman: Thanks, email checked and replied
ymonkato,Gavin_G,unitstudio,jddog,terraarc: Thanks, appreciated!
dom: interesting point you have, gotta give some thought to it, thanks.
Rex3d: I still have not totally abandoned my first idea, but currently this second one feels more grander at least in my head :). It will have more depth and scale but this concept lacks both of those and really could use some scale reference too.
cipher:thanks, hopefully the next one will enlighten you more, I will make things more visible
m@.: cheers, hopefully I manage to find the right things from my mind
Little story update with concept coming soon…

Hi Jari…While I like your first concept very much I would choose your second one.It has this “Mood” to it.Beautiful color balance. And I think it will be both beautiful and surreal in it’s crashed position,a bit sad but epic and grand.:arteest:
Hi!
Does the name Ilmatar have some connection with kalevala epic?
Actually Ilmatar is an old estonian name, too!
It means something like weather maker or so…
If we dig deeply in our myths and and tales, those might give a lot of inspiration!
BTW i like your last concept and the design of the ship
Great work! :bounce:
Thanks Taavi,
You are right, Ilmatar comes from the Kalevala
ILMATAR: A Finnish goddess, Daughter of the Air. She created the world, and is the mother of Väinämöinen. Sometimes she is called Luonnotar, Daughter of Creation.
I really love all kind of mythology and tales. That is one reason why I chose Ilmatar as a name for my ship and I think it suits pretty well. Though, In my image the goddess of heavens has come down :\

Oh, the mother of Väinämöinen! Why didn’t you say so in the first place - then we would have known from the very start what you were talking about.
Btw, the second sketch is lovely - very pufferfishy as well, so I just bet you’re going with that one in the end :wise:
Very nice drawings!! … my vote for the second one, I think its more dinamic and impressive …
Good luck to you … I’ll follow your work
I wish you the best of luck!
I like your style! Really promising ideas!
I think it’s a great honour to participate in a competition with people with great talent such as you.
JamesMK: hehe, you familiar with Väinämöinen? :D… and thanks, you are probably right, I think I’m gona go with the second one with some changes. Actually started to do some concept modelling.
luciano berutti,emonimo,CobraX: Thank you, appreciated!
