Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Jan van der Weg
Hi,
Nice illustrations…just wanted to warn you that everything on this contest has to be new. So, you might want to use those illustrations as reference and create new ones. Good luck
I’m studying Industrial Design, so I get to do a lot of this style drawing.
Yeah, I’ve already started sketching some more beefier capships. Those old ones didn’t really fit the style I wanted.
Is cool to see people with drawing Skills! many other threads have just a few lines to describe their concepts, unless is not necesary for being a good 3D artist and also to win, I really enjoy looking good sketchs :arteest:
Remember originality is a point to be evatuated, your cruiser is excelent, but it remember me to much to the motherships in the movie “Starship Troopers” don’t missunderstand my point, it is just my opinion
I wish u the best of luck, and i invite u to come see my thread, so you can “revenge” my comments lol
Hey stannum
really great model here … I can see your cruiser come to life from the sketch … if I only could sketch and model like that … looking forward to see more on your thread, really rocking models …
See you, Riccardo

Thanks! I like your blackhole!
i like this model, it is armed to the teeth considering it is a cruiser. but i like the idea of slimming down the typical cruiser style, which tend by cliche to be boxy, your main body is slender and designed well i think. the engine housing feels a little like it was tacked on though, kind of an abrupt change from the rest of the hull. while i am sure that is by design, it does feel a little slapped together from the perspective of a (hypothetical) real shipbuilder designing this thing i mean.
