Wow looking good, i know its still in concept stages, but if you tightened up the composition a bit more, it would look even better. ![]()
Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Jan Andersson
great composition this piece got i know i’ve seen that planet somewhere hmmm yeah looks like earth a little bit, how about just changing that (opinion) fascinating coloring skills you have, keep going.
Thanks a bunch guys.
Greentea - Yeah, I need to work on composition a lot. It’ll be easier once I’ve made some basic models to figure out the most effective comp.
WazaR - I’ve never seen the Hemogia game so I don’t know. I’ll have to check that out. Though, I’ve been involved in a space game a few years ago so some inspiration definately comes from games.
erilaz - Thanks man!
I only hope that I’ll be able to do a convincing planet in 3d at the later stages. I’ve tried before and failed so we’ll see.
Designer2 - Thanks, and yeah, It’ll either be a very different earth (polluted, destroyed) or another planet all together.
I only hope that I’ll be able to update regularly since work is taking a lot of time.
Here’s a rough design of a ship. I don’t want too much detail as it will narrow the modelling process.
Thanks Shiroii
I haven’t given that much thought really. Either there’ll be a huge asteroid closing (or ramming) the planet or it might already be destroyed. The central part should be the space station and that people are gathering for some reason.
A more detailed concept of the scene. Composition is still very weak so I’ll have to work on that later.
This was painted over screenshots of rough models.
One word: Wow…
I love the coulours and contrast you use in your concept drawing, as the theme. impressive
Very promising… i’ll stay tuned
Good luck to you!
Hey! Nice work buddy. This is going to be great, I really like the last scetch and how the planet is “oozing” with something…life maybe. Keep it up.
CML
Really nice. I guess this is concept drawin 1.b or something. I sure like it better, way to go ![]()
Nice work. I like the third concept sketch.
If I may make a suggestion: composition-wise, the planet in that 3rd sketch would have a more impressive sense of scale if it were larger, more towards the corner, and if the impact was more off-center so you could see it in perspective with the planet’s contours.
This looks like it will be a cool one.
That last one is cool!
Im definitely going to be watching this one closely. I got a feeling I could learn a lot just from hanging out in this thread. Shoot, these forums are just oozing talent. Man there is so many incredibly talented people running around here…what am I doing here?!
Learning, thats what…LOL.
Excellent job! Cant wait to see it realized in 3D :).
It has a very homeworld 2 feel to it, which quite franckly is not to bad of a thing. The secound concept I find more visually impressive,… if only because of the strength and solemnity of the ship.
The color treatment is going in the right direction as far as producing a more “emotive” feel, almost like a nostaglic photo from the past. I think you should keep the sun’s glare in the scene to give space more of a living sense to it.
I think the only thing you are missing are smaller objects that would go a long way to producing more of a sense of scale.
Keep up the good work.
