great ideas Eric, this world looks nice and you have many great action going on, this will rock when done.

good luck

#22

very good sketches, could be better with more spaceship in frame.
It’s just my thought.

David.

Once again, thank you all for the great feedback. I agree with getting some more ship in, as long as I don’t loose my main character in the process. Like I mentioned above, I am not a 2D guy in any stretch and will do most of my fine tuning in 3D. I really appreciate the great responses. Hope you all are progressing well, I will be browsing the channels later on tonight. Cheers!

#24

Here is a modified side view of my low tech ship. Once again just a sketch for proportion/placement. Final is much more detailed. Will be creating a 3/4 view here shortly. Cheers its beer thirty.

#25

Man, I love your concept. It will be easy for you to model them, cause you have a great sketching ability, You have nicely captured the scene in your sketch. Waiting to see the
3d version.
cool:thumbsup:

#26

Great concept man, cool prespective, and Neat designs.

#27

Your last sketch look good. keep it up.
i’m waiting for perspective view.

Stunning sketch-work! The idea is a great one.

The problem you seem to be faced with is finding a way to depict all the elements without crowding the scene (pilot, planet, ship, explosion). What if (and these are just ideas… take 'em or leave 'em):

Set the POV very close to the pilot… inside the cockpit even.

Turn the pilots head so he’s looking over his shoulder at the explosion. This would allow the helmet insignia to be viewed easily.

Create a ship-type which features more ship behind the pilot than in front (since the front would not be seen from the new POV). We would see more of the ship (from the cockpit back) and the thrust-trail behind.

Fantastic idea and implementation.

Cheers,

Shane

Hi everyone, great crits and ideas. Thanks. I am back (took yesterday off to brew some beer).

Viridian: I will definately be playing more with pov. Now that my concept is locked I will be doing all of the fine tuning in 3D. I model pretty quickly so I’ll have a chance to get all things worked out. Still have not started modeling phase yet, probably tomorrow. Thank for keeping your eyes and mind open to my work. I appreciate it.

Thanks everyone, more to come.

Hi Eric…Thats a very nice concept.I think when shown in a larger format even more so.I think the slight crowding will no longer be a slight problem then,That was a good suggestion by Viridian to have the pilot turn his head…Looking over his shoulder.Well good luck, and keep up the good work.:arteest:

#31

good start man
looking forward to some modeling

#32

I really like the concept. The space ship looks great. Not to complex, but still looks good. Keep it up.

#33

Looking pretty cool,nice overall appeal.

#34

ok, let’s see some models!

#35

Hi everyone, been a bit slammed this week with this architectural vis i am doing, I should be into modeling in a day or two if all goes well. Hope all the projects are going well, have not had time to check in. Enough of my blab, talk with you all soon…

Eric

#36

Here is a five minute start on the FG ship. More to come.

#37

Here is the ship with curves lofted.

#38

Here is another mod to the lower jet. I think it make s more sense from a functional standpoint, the other way would have burned off the wing.
