Finally sorted out my idea.
The greatest secrect of the universe is uncovered in a small village on the last human planet in the galaxy. Once the tech-hungry alien supressors who rule the universe catch wind of this great discovery, they attack with full vengance in hopes of yeilding this great power.
This shot will depict the strength of one man in the shadow of domination.
Sketches to come…
Cheers and I wish you all the best.
Here is my concept sketch. I am not much of a 2D person so this is where I leave it. Those blobbs landing in the back are those spider bots in landing mode, should have a skecth up soon. Any comments would be great.
Here is a line drawing (front view of the spider bot. I need to do a 3/4 and I can say that it is a bit too cartoonlike. So I will be changing that soon.
Here is another head variation, still feel that it’s too toony, but I think its enough to start modeling.
Ok, that was fun, but I am changing design/concept to one that contains more of a Grand Space Theme. Duhh. I should have begun there in the first place. I’ll post some more sketches later today.
Here is my new concept. An alien race is overtaking the universe one galaxy at a time. The aliens live aboard these spiderlike spacecraft that latch onto planets and suck the energy core from them renderig the host planet dead. This shot depicts one of our best (Humans that is) defeating the alian ship deployed to our galaxy. Yes planet Earth saves they day. I wanted to keep to the theme of a unified mankind vereses the alien element. I think that the human race needs to quit killing itself over subjective matters like religion and lifestlye and unify as one very diverse people/species. So I guess that is the feelilng I was going for in this piece. I think I like this better than y previous pitch. Any feed back would be great. Thanks and I hope you all are progessing nicely.
Any CC on composition/theme/color before I take a stab a designing crafts etc…A Mighty thanks.
Just wanted to say that I love the position of the pilot, his closeness to the viewer creates a great amount of anxiety which adds to the mood of the piece. The background is a bit messy, but I’m sure you’re going to work that out eventually. Nice work, keep it up and PLEASE don’t loose the foreground character!
this concept carries a lot of action. really nice.
I´m curious about seeing how you develop the background in combination
with this dominant looking foreground.
have fun
Thanks your comments are truly helpful. I agree, I need to do some more work on the BG. IMO it feels cramped. I am thinking I can open it up a bit when I get a real camera in the scene and play with a few lenses, hopefully let get this piece to breathe a bit. I am going to try a few bakground replacements now.
I agree about the background. You captured it perfectly when you said it was cramped–that’s exactly the feeling I get when I look at it.
Awesome concept though! I think it works very well with the story and the space opera theme.
If you can work out the background (I think it’s that exploding alien ship that just isn’t fitting in right) this will be a wicked piece.
Gr8 work
.

Here is a variation based on previous CC. I tried to open up the composition a little. Thanks to all who offer opinions. Hope your work is coming along nicely.
Here is the pilot helmet idea. Wanted to keep the design in the practical realm. The human ship/pilot equipment is pretty low tech and rough, in contrast to high tech anglar, sleekness of the alien design. More to come.
sup eric! lokking better than the first concept! i just think the human helmet doesnt blend in the image  godd work anyweay!
Howdy everyone. Here is a generic model reference (top view) of the FG ship. I am staying with the Low tech vibe. Mind you there will lots of little gizmos on the exterior this is just a proportion/placement layout. I’ll try and up a side view here in a minute.
