Great to see you still kicking ass at these challenges Dimitris. This is just awesome so far. Can’t wait to see it done.
Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Dimitris Liatsos
Hey what is going on here! I’ve been gone away from internet the weekend and this blast! WOW!
Very impressive work on the tower Dimitris!
Really like it, and waiting for the textured version to blow me up!:bounce::bounce:
On the scale issue I agree with lukep on grand scale bridge compared to fighters and Lander (sorry if I mispelled the name is quite a few pages back
).
Waiting for more! :applause:
(though the limit set by you is leaving a minor window 0,3 FPS!) :buttrock:
I believed to die by seeing the previz… so great… ![]()
Just one question, do you plan to add something in close up ? (apart from your small head with glasses)
I think that that will be well to have even more this idea of depth and gigantism of this scene… no ? :arteest:
…and the thoughts about my 3 vanishing points…the the image taping on the vertical axis will be more adjusted by setting Film Ofset in Camera Atributes…
Comments and crits are welcomed of course…
Simply amazing, Dimi!!!
Looks epic so far to me, but good suggestion from Laurent with some foreground things…
Gigantic greets!
You’re definitely on to something now
Distortion is always a problem in scenes like this of course - film offset is a great thing (just got it myself so to speak… never knew how useful it was)
I think maaaaaaaybe you could increase the focal length even more… the more ‘tele’ the more probable it is that you interpret it as a BIG scene…
Really feels like we’re getting closer to the action. This rocks :buttrock:
@ Saschi0815 …thank u my friend…no i haven’t forgot what Laurent mentioned…i will take care of it…Actually i have a surprise for the LOW LEFT CORNER… …i will start maybe tonight.
@ JamesMK …u are right…Distortion is always a problem with these lenses…i found some interesting stuff about this matter…i have used this correction with film offset in the past and it tends to make the image more elegant to the eye…so i am goig to do so…thank u man…:bounce: …hey James …the surprise on the left corner…i think u will super nuts like it … if i model this correctly…
I like the look you got going. Very refined and galactic. Should prove to be a great final entry once texturing and lighting are done. I think that’s going to be the key in this challenge for everyone. Great modeling and texturing needs stellar lighting and mood to be convincing.
I was hoping to join in on this challenge since it’s more or less up my alley, but work is crazy right now…maybe next time!
I wish you luck my friend! You’re really cranking!
oh wow, the bridge towers were smaller than i though (unless the sparrows and transports are bigger than i thought) i had imagined it being that one side of the bridge could hold like 4 sparrows wide ro something, the towers by themselves made it seem that big! this is cool too though, and i like how it gives you the chance to display a lot of the detail you modelled in…
I do have to say though that even with the three focal points, the close proximity of the camera and the wide angle lens still feels a little fish eyed especially at the top of the shot where the nearest tower kind of flares outward… maybe back the camera up just a bit and then narrow the angle by maybe 3 degrees. the framing will stay the same but you will get less distortion.
@ Sandpiper …heyyy…how are u friend?..i sure hope u have time and enter …i love the clean way u model difficult stuff and make them look easy…heheh…hope u find time :bounce:
@ stork …Thank u friend…i nfinal maybe i will make the road of the bridge wider if it helps in my image or concept …the way i modeled this part of the bridge it’s easy to change it anytime
…about …

…yeah i know…don’t wory i found the solution …it’s called film offseting and and at the sam time u tilt a little the camera up and it fixes the perspective narrowing immidietly…i was experimenting with that a lot today…thank u friend for your observations. :deal:
I am so confused about composition that i decided to take a brake from that problem…
So…surprise …Grana Merc Commando …lol…hope u like it…
hi Dimitris…
your bridge tower system model is a pure piece of art!! so delicate and elegant shapes it has!
beautiful…![]()
well… i have one idea about your composition… try to place camera over the bridge near the tower system and direct camera along bridge slightly displacing camera either right or left so the bridge crosses the view diagonally and one tower occurs very close on the foreground and two towers on the opposite side in the middle/background… this way you may use bridge as angular frame for the picture and it will look huge… also, as most of your objects fly, in this case you’ll get possibility to place them (or remains of them) also in the precipice (where btw you can put clouds or fog to underline huge scale of the action)…
though it may force you to use portret layout i think you may try it to see what kind of compositional possibilities it might give…
well… anyway congrats with great work and cheers!!!
Whoa, nice and dramatic! Nice comp, and nice start for your character!
Love to see more!
:buttrock:
I dont Know What Are You Going To do more Stop Stop You Got The First Prize…
Great Boy

man you are going for a huge scene
can’t really see anything drastically wrong with the composition, although you could perhaps afford to move in a bit more, and maybe crop a bit more off the top of the front tower in doing so, I feel it should get across the feeling of scale better if it isn’t completely in frame.
You’ll have a better idea of what lighting effects you are going to be placing in here and where, try and take them into account as they will effect the final composition.
@ greentek …thank u friend…u got a point and i must admit that i am also reconsidering the portrait compo …maybe…we shall see
@ keetmun …thanjs man…it really needs a lot of work though
@ visualact.com …thanks…friend it’s never about winning , it’s about the fight to win… :bounce:
@ Curly Piggy called flyingP…man thank u , i will try this too, …i am a little confused right now but i will short it out i think …thanks for the directions u are giving me …may really i need to sacrifiace the top of the closer tower …go closer and in this way help the scale of the constaruction:thumbsup: :wip:
