The composition feels claustrophobic, stuffy, because the being is shoved up into the top of the frame instead of being the main focus. The picture itself, however, is awesome. Great idea of a being coming out of the nexus of a galaxy. The colors are fantastic and the galaxy looks like a photo. Good job.
Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Dean Albenze
This is an idea for a ship. I might make it a bit more sleek on the final design. I wanted to give a feel that the ship is heavily maintenanced and worked on, like a vehicle rather than a super smooth rocket ship or ufo.
Thanks for the input JTD. I am planning on adding the ship sketch (3d of course) to the area towards the bottom of the main pic. My final image may end up nothing like this but I’m getting a good feel for what I want to do.
The galaxy is actually from a real photo, I just modifyed the colors and added an old character to it, some planets and stars. I am going to create a new character for this one, one with more of an outer space feel to it. I am also going to create a 3D nebula/galaxy once I figure out how to!
Thanks again for the input, I appreciate it!
I like the dark side! very good system color. I´m making some like dark side too, good luck!
Great concept. If Your scene will be only half as good as concept You are in first 10 already.
Very nice sketch, your ship is awesome, drastic.
do the twice sketches are the same concept?
David.
Mmm, I don’t quite like your warm up sketch, but then again the things you still have in your mind are great. And maybe I’m not seeing what you want me to see, so that could be it. The comment about it being to claustophobic could be right, I get the feeling you should need more space.
I like the spaceship sketch! I wish I could draw like that. The front (cockpit) looks very much like a car … is that what you intended or am I just seeing things? Keep up the good work and teach people like me how to sketch plz
That spaceship sketch is really nice!
I thought the big demon was a good start, but the size relationship of the three main elements makes me wish you had done something more extreme with the scale. If that planet in the upper left was much smaller and darker, so it looked distant, I think there would seem to be more depth. I don’t know if you meant to have a whole galaxy around the demon, or if it’s just some stuff swirling around him. If you meant it to be a galaxy, the planet in the upper left would definitly be much smaller, maybe not visible.
You have a really good thing going on here.
Good luck.

I sense the presence of the Dark Side in this one…
Thanks Luciano, I checked out your work too, looks great! Keep up the good work!
Yes, David. The ship and the other scene are both the same concept. I am going to build everything that you see. I would like to have the ship in the bottom right of the picture, as if it were fleeing from the beast.
Thanks for your compliments!
Not too fond of your warm up sketch, but the ship is really unique and refreshing. The shape is what I find the most interesting in the design, it looks like it could both fly well and kill thing effectively. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Crusty. I will take your advice on the final rendering. I agree to the perception of the planets and their depth, very good idea. As for the galaxy, I would like it to be a galaxy-nova-nubula type of feel. This was just some quick photoshop work to get a feel for things, my final design will have a bit of a different feel to it.
Thanks for the great input!
Thanks Velk. I appreciate your honesty about the warm up. I would rather someone tell me what they truely feel rather than not. I think you will like my final design better, I hope anyway.
Thanks for your comments about my ship. I was hoping it would give that effect. I might make a couple modifications to it in the 3D version.
Thanks Duke. It does look a bit like a car, I was thinking that when drawing it, that will be changed during the modeling process.
I take it from yours and other’s thoughts that I need more space in my space picture!
Thanks for your thoughts!
This is a concept for the beast in the center. The one displayed in my first draft is not the one that I intend to have in the final. I want to have the creature somewhat “kingly” which is why I developed the head in such a way. This is a type of creature from another world, a dark world. Certainly a bit more dangerous than a typical little green man.
I will probably draft a couple of different versions and would greatly appreciate any thoughts and critiques.
Well, I think the first sketch is fantastic. The thing I like most about it is the demon doesn’t look quite humanoid… it’s a little nebulous. Which I think is a good thing.
The second concept sketch for the beast is a great sketch. You’ve got real talent. But, when viewing the first one I sorta led myself to believe you were aiming for a more… unearthly type of monster. Something that resembles a humanoid very little.
I suppose what I’m saying is I’d love to see a Chthulu-type alien rather than a humanoid-demon type. It’s just a matter of different tastes (and I’ll be the first to admit I’m a little strange
).
Just kicking ideas around.
Whatever way you go… I’m impressed with both your creativity and your talent. It looks like it will be a great success.
Cheers!
