Much or not - it looks very good and pretty clever too in my oh-so-humble opinion.
Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Brian J. Read
Wow man, what an excelent job you’ve been doing here! Sorry for not posting sooner!
@claudio_jordao many thanks and thanks for visiting
@Nomad yeah texturing is going to be fun…well not so much the texturing as the UV maps :hmm:
and thanks Wabbit
hey aweosme going man… been a while i didnt checked this thread out… seems like uve progressed a lot… keep up the good works man… ur going awesome
Hi there! It’s obvious that he looks great, so no need to emphasize that again:thumbsup: But I have a question… did you try to arrange him into the pose that you have presented in your sketch? I think that with this design of the helmet the pose which looks amazing on the sketch, won’t look good with this guy… The helmet os quite flat and long, and if this guy looks up, it may look strange.
:bounce: …He speaks the truth and nothing but the truth
…er…now that i remember …i would also like to see the PIG ON THE EDGE
Now …step on it!
Nice update flyingP!
Love the extra details, clean model, and functionality!
Waiting for more!
been waiting for someone to pick up on that :applause: and you’re quite right…to be honest though I am rather sceptical that I can recreate that pose at all as I have drawn it, in 3D. I often tend to be a bit more liberal with perspective in 2D ( I cheat ) but then bending the rules are easier with a 2D drawing than with a 3D model. I’ll try and come as close as I can or rethink the pose/composition a bit …nothing is carved in stone here as yet.
Squibbit, overcontrast, DimitrisLiatsos, terraarc … thanks guys
Impressive quality of modelling, extemely nice curves and design and what wonderful details… Flying, this is awersome ! + :applause:
jdd
That charachter is awesome great detailing.
there are so many great artists here and i haven’t even see half of them but i am glad to see your models
Keep this awesome models up and coming:beer:
(oh dont forget your concept designs rock:buttrock: )
I have enjoyed watching your progress quite a bit so I must congradulate you on your efforts. The level of detail you are getting into is very impressive, I hope your computer doesn’t explode during the final render.
You guys really need to start sucking though, otherwise it will be to obvious us lesser peons have no chance! Keep up the nice work, and best of luck! I look forward to seeing how this unfolds further
unlikely…my thread seems to have been getting a disproportionate number of views ( has surprised the hell out of me too to be honest ) but there is a lot of really good work floating around in a lot of entries here that seem to be getting a bit overlooked…and then there is the stuff the guys are doing in the 2D section a lot of which is really kicking butt.
Aaaannnnnd to be honest I doubt I’ll manage to finish this there are still far to many holes in my knowledge which I am still trying to fill (which is one of my reasons for having a go at this challenge to start with)
All the same I really appreciate the support guys
flyingP,
Detail is incredible but when I saw the front page of your thread with the elbow sketch, my first thought was some kind of creature with lense like eyes and an articulated neck (close one eye, de-focus and squint…maybe see what I mean, ok maybe not, like trying to pick shapes from clouds).
Look forward to more
JA

It seems like the start of December and eventually winter has brought some general AMIGMI? = “am I gonna make it?” thoughts in most of the CG talkers here…
Man, I believe that (taking your initial concept) you’re not that far! You already have the SShip and working on the main front character!! (Oohh, did I mention that he is looking really BIG in the composition?) I think you’re on track with it!
I myself thinking of the AMIGMI? sundrome as a virus I have to move out of my brain!!
KBytes of support and encouragement and a strong dose of the Gallic potion to you!!
you know I honestly spent hours doing that as a kid, Auckland where I grew up has great clouds for that IMO…big and fluffy and they change quickly…they’re rather seldom where I am now and it’s funny I have often mentioned to my wife I really miss them
@terraarc don’t get me wrong I am not giving up or anything just I have higher priorities on actually learning something out of this (which I believe I am doing), if I meet the deadline in time so much the better but I don’t want it to hold me up from experimenting with a bit of stuff here (and in the end the more confident I become with this medium the faster I will be) .
All in all if I can get this figure finished then I’m not too far away methinks
Bastard…guess who’s getting a nice very ripe can of Pal sent to them for Christmas…and I am still waiting on HW2 anyway :hmm:
not really happy with a lot of this at the moment…and to be honest I really like some decent crit on it.
I will however keep banging my head against the wall until I feel it’s acceptable …or I am unconscious
