trying to do a concept, sort of an image that would appear at some mag with some text like:

excavator: cat-lunar, model: aby4Z5
located on: moon 234z3 003
for sale
as is, where is

tech details:
engine: nuclear
height: 125 m
weights: 1200 tons
brains: AI unit 34z17d build 3425
ect…

(now, this text will need some work, but you get the idea hopefully)

i need comments now,

The trick with excavators is having a very heavy base compared to the weight of the things you are digging/lifting.

For cranes this is managed by using a counterweight opposite the load. For diggers it is the weight of the engine and tracks that keeps the machine stable.

Now for a 150m digger with a fairly long reach you would either need a huge weighty body - or (my preference) some spikes and claws to anchor the legs firmly to the ground and provide a stable foundation… besides spikes and claws are fun to draw

simoncvy: tnx for reply, i was thinking to do such a proportion towards the legs, so it will look stable enough by just using those, i may also add some sort of engine below the center, but i guess that wouldnt do much for stability.

#5

just playing around to see what kind of modeling could work well in this case.

#6

trying to get some sort of organic quality to those claws.

#7

trying to figure out how the attachement should look like.
