Man your concept is rocking. It is looking great:thumbsup:
Keep it up.

#62

jdd

#63

hehe thanks for the comments everyone, I hope to have most of the center-building done by the end of today

#64

Yeah man, looks really great. How much polys does this scene have?

I thing that regular planting of bulidings isnt as bad as the others said, it shows the future - symetric, regular and quadratic…

I think that wasnt very good english ;).

Nice scene!

#65

looks strange, but i agree with luk…

good luck.

#66

Jo,
First of all the scene has A WHOLE DAM NLOT of poly’s. I had to make the effect of the houses theirselves only visible at the render or else my computer would crash for sure (eventhough it almost crashed too when I tried mentalray rendering :p).
Seconds, At the final image I’m going to make the houses theirselves as abstract as possible, but try to keep the planting a bit random to make the image look more interesting and stuff :stuck_out_tongue:
Last, your English is probably better than mine, don’t worry :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks again for commenting everyone

edit: dang I use alot of smileys in my posts :stuck_out_tongue:

#67

I really enjoy your process. I’ve been following several threads and your workflow is the best imo. Keep up the good work!

#68

hi budy, nice view i liked the scene of buildings… but actually if they had the capability to do such a awesome building why do they have such small ones (takin lots of place on the ground) and just have one big one…? wouldn’t it be something like a city made by only one or few buildings… like four may be. i dunno wouldn’t it be logical… sorry i didn’T read all ur posts so u might allready had this conversation before… good luck pal.

#69

Hi,

Your technical skills look very promising, I would love to see an illustrated sketch of the entire concept if possible. Anyway, good luck.

#70

I’d mix this one with the circle one it would look great

#71

why do they have such small ones (takin lots of place on the ground) and just have one big one…? wouldn’t it be something like a city made by only one or few buildings…

I’m thinking that would look pretty damned boring - unless some gigantic effort were put into making the single huge buildings look like they consisted of several thousand smaller ones or something.

Still looks good and I never intended to mean ā€œit’s not originalā€ with that other post - merely, if the same idea is being/has been used everywhere before, it may become a little bit boring - still looks schweet tho

#72

i see something here…

#73

yeah u r right i know that would look not that cool but u can make it look cool… like u said lotz of small buildings detailed on one building and it wouldn’t have to be square or something lke that…anyway i’M tellin this just incase there might something cool could come out from that. lets see whtt is next, go on dude:thumbsup:

#74

it’s not going to be yust a big building with loads of small ones around it. It’s about the city of Star Wars but that more abstract, lighter coloured and plants and parks here and there
and uhm, diffrent anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

btw since the big guys decided to count a WIP as 25% of your ā€˜degree’ or whatever (so YOU guys can learn from me, eventhough I’m probably the one here that’s learning the most :p) I’ve decided to not start with the final models yet but sketch some more (a bit more on paper this time I guess).

#75

Ahh yes pencils are good.

#76

pencils good, pencils vewy vewy good!
too bad I’m not so good with 'em, but for CGTalk I’ll squeeze out every last bit of skill if I need to :stuck_out_tongue:

#77

Yes, pencils are good. Actaully I bought a wacom a while ago so that I could draw digitally and stuff. But, I know realize that the best way to do it is to draw with a pencil and use the wacom to color things in photoshop. So, I guess that’s my advice if you have a wacom, draw things out, scan them in, and use the tablet to color it. If you don’t have a wacom…please ignore this message…

this message will self distruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

#78

I DO have a wacom but I suck at using it, I guess I’ll try to use it yust for colouring too though, thanks for the tip

#79

you ā€˜can’ draw with a Wacom too, just takes a bit of getting use too, strangely enough (for me) I haven’t actually used a pencil at all in this or the last challenge myself, haven’t really missed it either :surprised

I like thwe shapes youve donne. The circle city is nice. Its really huge.
You`ved maka me curious about the entire composotion.
