cant wait to see the 3d version…

Yep, me too. It’s amazing to see how much cgtalk has grown. I still remember how cgtalk used to look like.

Anyhow, wiro, we’re still waiting for your update :smiley:

simoncvy, WazaR and keetmun;
All your suggestions are good ones. I definately will add some smaller ships; escorts, small transports, etc and atmospherics; dustclouds from the ships, suggestions of dust kicked up through wind, etc to the endpiece.
I’m not so sure about the crashwake though since that would implify great speed. I was imagining the ship to be so big that it’s relative speed was low. It would look more like the Hindenburg crash, floating to the ground and crunching it’s shape into the sand.

stupendoh;
Yo man! Good to see you entering too. Several people have liked the ocean pics but I’m thinking that sand broken with rocks and cliffs would look more interesting than flat ocean allthough I too like the colours of the first sketches.

Well, I’ve been working late nights almost all week so no time for updates yet. It’s weekend now so I’ll get back to it soon after getting my hair cut :wink:

Arild
Welcome on board!
waiting to see your concepts.

I agree with what you just wrote above, the ocean ones look better to me because of the colouring. -I dont know why, I have nothing against warm colours usually:) But an actual ocean is a little dull in terms of cool rock formations and crashed starships.

So maybe if you consulted your drawing board you could come up with something different: like an ocean inside an icy desert (lake maybe). And there could be caves, glaciers, frozen stuff etc. all with blue and white.

But there really isn’t anything wrong whith the desert idea though, I like it. And I like your starship alot, very original.

ohh man - Wiro is here … you’re my hero, man. Because of the fascination of your shebot pictures i started with 3d … now… it look’s like we are opponents now :slight_smile:

will definitly have a look at your thread from time to time

viel glück - und ja, die ozeanbilder wirken sauberer, frischer und origineller.

When i last battled wiro, it was using a technique called ‘the art of modelling without modelling’

… and we both know who won that battle!

Due to an excess of work in the past 2 months (12-16h days almost every day) I’ve not been able to work much on my entry. I’ll be off on vacation for a month over xmas but since I won’t have my PC with me I don’t think I’ll be able to finish this challenge on time. I’ll continue work on it though, maybe I’ll get it done in time for Expose3.
Thanks for checking in!

Wiro
