even if not seeing you @ cgtalk for a while … i must still say: …

DUDE… YOU ROCK !!

Akh, this isn’t going where I want it to. It still lacks a sense of grand scale but at least I think I’ve settled on a coulourscheme.

I’m putting in a large shipwreck in the right corner from which more smaller ships are fleeing, doomed to settle on this barren planet on which their modership crashlanded.

Wiro, the design and the palette are strong. As to the epic scale of it perhaps you can introduce human figures into the image, which is always a quick and dirty way to demonstrate scale - possibly on the ground beneath the vessel. I think seeing more of the vessel itself, giving it more vertical scale would help establish scale and an epic quality…Another suggestion would be something in the foreground…

Otherwise however, its damn fine!

Great coloursheme. I definitely think that a very big object in the background (your mothership) will give the sense of scale you want. Maybe some scale reference objects in the foreground too (humans visible in the foreground ship?).
Keep going!

edit : unitstudio was quicker and explained better

Thanks for popping into this thread all…it’s good to be back with some personal work again. I’ve not really finished anything in…err…2 years already?
Too much work started to drain my energy from doing stuff at home too. Gotta get my gears oiled again!

AAAAHHHH Yeah,
I’m going to like this one.
Great job Wiro. I bet your models will be georgeous.

#52

Great design and colors, looking forward to see more.

Wiro, the ship in the foreground with the claw like structure, is that the good guy or bad guy? I mean is that ship going over to the shipwreck on the right to fix it or destroy it? It looks a lot like a repair vessel, It looks really slow-moving too, unless that’s your intention, or else you could perhaps tilt the vessel and make it lunge forward a bit.

It’ll be interesting to see some subtle cool colours in as well. One of the reasons why this might not be looking as grand as you wanted it to be, would be because of the size of the vessel, currently there is nothing to associate it with, it looks small unlike the 1st concept you posted which had the ocean to relate size to.

I like the barren wasteland look, it’ll be interesting to see unusual rock formations in the distance, especially with so much wide space to play with.

Cheers.

Great concepts, looks promising!.. the last one especially has very nice mood in it… almost started to look for Roger Wilco  The crashlanded mothership will surely add some epic scope in it. Keep it up!

#55

Very cool concept art. Sorta like Chiang’s work.

#56

It does look promising and I think the idea has room for a very grand composition.
Keeping one eye fixed on this thread.

#57

I really love that one… The space ship is really really nice !

#58

Very nice ship design.

#59

Color scheme is the cats meow for a Space opera…The ship concept has some fine angles and a indepth look to it’s design.I look forward to the details once it makes it into the 3DWorld…I like the idea of a Shipwreck off to one side very much…It’s always a good idea to have the viewers eyes wonder left to right and then back again, always taking in more eye candy…

For me I think all is under order here.Perhaps I would think of going more Vertical with this.Look into that 4 to 3 aspect ratio. You can showcase the sky more, stretch out your terrain formations to the sky.In either case,a grand Space opera in the making is coming here, that's a sure bet.Go at it hard Wiro....................:arteest:
