Grand Space Opera 3D Entry: Alexander Preuss

#336

Hi Alexander

I´m not surprized to see you as the winner, and you deserve it very much. Even though you originally stole my idea(…:))…But I could never have done this with the idea, simply not skilled enough.

Congrats man, I hope this lead to something big for you. You have the talent to take this as far as you want to…go for it!

Sincerely

If you odn’t mind,
what software app did you render everything and on the planet below, where sis you get the texturemap and its fresnel effect on the edgeof the planet, was that painted in or shader?

#340

hi alexander, congratulations for your price and enjoy it.
i hope to challege again with you and the others challengers in the next contest, and i hope to find a hard competition like i found in the grand space opera:thumbsup:

#344

congrats friend!!!, its really greatest work…Everyone chosen the best work as a Winner!!!

#345

Hi Folks,

thanks a lot 4 the great feeback in here, it´s nice to see some old friends back who guided me throuh this whole challenge.
BIG BIG THANKS! without you i think i never would have reached the end :applause:

I´m using 3DS-Max, the City is painted in Photoshop and mixed up with a map from south-Africa, the clouds are on a second sphere, a bit larger than the planet so that they can cast shadows on it. The fresnel effect comes from a Max-Material and it´s added on a third sphere, larger than the other two spheres.

I hope that helps a bit

See U
Alex

#346

Thank you.
You are a Prince and a Scholar!

Did you get the imagemap off the web or scan it in?

Your planet has the quintessional (sp) cinema look to it. Enjoy your new prizes, much deserved.

It requires a clear mind and a lot of design skills to do this sort of the things, don’t it? Just the mere look at the alien cruiser blows me off!:buttrock:

I absolutely love the work. I have a question for you. When is the cgi film for this coming out? A winner by at least head & shoulders. Your artistry is awesome. Definately an inspiration to someone who is new in the 3-d field. Again, great job. I’ll be looking for your cgi film on this project<g>.
