Grand Space Opera 2D Entry: Peter Schonefeld

#21

Another craft that will feature in the scene.

Borro, Erebus74, jal, elmasfeo: thanks for the feedback, appreciate it  I will do some more concept scketches for the composition before starting to work on the scene…will try and incorporate some of the layout in the second one into the high view of the first.

elmasfeo: the idea with the crystal domes (i like the crystal idea, thanks!) is that they will contain the actual exhibitions. The statues will be positioned at the front of each dome and there will be other structures around the place too.

The story is that the fair will be celebrating 8000 years of civilization and the history of human expansion. There will be a dome for each century (so the statues will represent a figure from each period of history). We wont be able to see all of the domes, but will try and make the layout like a ‘+’ shape with the monument in the center.

Unlike the world fairs in our past, these fairs will each last for 100 years (there are a lot of people to visit it) so will try and add some notion of strength and permanence to the structures.

What an original idea with plenty of scope. great stuff

#24

nice, everything’s well planned. No do some physics calculations and see if you could build those! No, really, it’s good to have plans so everything works logically in your final image. I’ll wait to see more sketches from you

#25

Thanks unitstudio!

Ranath: LOL, well i plugged in all of the figures into the universal structure design formula and got the answer ‘42’…so it must be OK

#26

Did someone say 42?
Great ship designs drawMonger, can’t wait to see them in the final concept.

#27

another take. Added a military sentinel craft to add some interest.

#28

Hey, hey, there’s still one frontseat left.
Ok, I’m settled now.

You can go on with the show now.
(Your 2nd comp sketch looks very promising btw!)

#29

Eh eheh I doubt they would put a military ship on the advertising, maybe a bit too intimidating…maybe is better a small writing as: Security guaranteed by Auron’s Militia!

I work for ads… :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

#30

Art2 and Erebus74, thanks for stopping by

I think i will play more with the second concept and, as for the military ship, consider it gone!

Been doing a little reseach on images from the various world’s fairs…and found this poster:

Love it!

#31

Wow, that poster really rocks and has some inspiration I think!

#32

This is a 2D entry. I just did a little block modeling to try and get a better feel for the composition. In the end, the one that worked best for me was very close to my second scene sketch, so I think I’ll go with that. Any advice would be appreciated

#33

Man your last image is the best composition wise with a lovely dramatic view.
Good luck!

#34

Changed the aspect ratio and added some colour ideas.

#35

I liked your landscape version rather than this portrait one, I think it helped to the perspective and was more dramatic in my opinion…
your “concept 2.0.4” really rocks! I like the position of the planet, looks like a huge and omnipresent being, observing the scene from above…

#36

I also like 2.0.4 better, especially the terraces and trees.

#37

screamingwing, elmasfeo and Art2: Thanks for the feedback! I think i’ll take your advice and go with 2.0.4 . The thing that knida bugs me about that one is the lack of ‘white space’…it just seems a little cluttered…so what i’ll do is add a couple of cm to the top and get rid of the small planet/moon and see how that goes. Thanks again.

#38

I agree completely… 2.0.4 is the way to go. I don’t think it needs more white space. If you want to add a cm or 2 to the top, ok…but I think you need to keep in that small moon for balance. I love how this is developing! Way to go!! :bounce:

#39

hey robinayles! Thanks for the feedback  I will keep the moon in as I agree that it does need something there.

#40

Hey there…POST MORE PICTURES!!
