Grand Space Opera 2D Entry: Marlon Kromodikoro

I made the cruiser a bit bigger…
It’s distance is still a few dozen km away, I want to portray it as huge.

The blue line that runs down the rocks is the edge of the EM-field that separates the hangar from space. (Still not 100% sure how to depict this)

Oh Conundrum, thanks again. Hope I won’t disappoint you!

#102

hey art2, it’s looking great! the addition of the big ships moves the eye attention back where it should be, good work!
That EM Field of the last picture…I don’t know how could you make it, but for the moment it’s not readable without your explanation, imo. oh, and the bomb falling… I think you should rotate it to be either horizontal or pointing slightly downwards…
…minor details…good luck with it

#103

Ola amigo! Can you see the finishline?

#104

I decided to delete the frigat.
It was too busy :), I will add lots of little fighters leaving the mothership.

Next I will start the final coloring. Tightening things up, adding more detail, think about colors etc.

The end is near…

#105

Very distinct style. I think you have an edge over some of the other work here with your style. Im looking forward to the final image. Good luck my friend.

#106

Left side of the canvas finished (I think

Hope to wrap this baby up tonight…

Voytek, thank you for the confidence!

#107

Good pic, very clean, good angle of vision perhaps you can added some lightsource ( more brigthness on the blast) and more shodows for biger contrast, it’s just an idea, good work

#108

Here’s the final image.

I’d like to thank everyone who gave me comments, encouragements and support.
A really BIG thank you guys, it really kept me going.
Also thank you to CGnetworks for this challenge, I really had a blast doing it!

Tools: PainterIX, Photoshop7, Graphire3

great final, i really like your unique style, some very soft and clean linework and shading coupled with an interesting composition made a wonderful painting. good luck

#110

Conundrum, thanks. Glad you like my ‘style’. You guys keep referring to this, I didn’t even know I had my own style, haha!

MDN67, I forgot to thank you for your advise! Thanks mon ami!

Well, I’ve uploaded the tiff… hope everything arrived savely. I didn’t see any maps or whatever where I could put the file, so I just uploaded it and hope for the best.

#111

Great Job!! The attention to colour detail to the foreground is very impresive, it really sets this off. Good luck, and congrats on making it through!

If you haven’t already, click Submit Entry, then Upload Final Image. After you’ve filled in all the blanks, page 3 should contain a thumb of your image. If it’s there then you’re done! Very nice job, btw. It feels good to be done early, doesn’t it? :applause:

#113

Heheh, then I’m cool…
Thanks fellas!

#114

Oh man, looking through those wonderful pieces of the other entrants I noticed some posted at higher res than I thought was allowed. I kept myself to the 150kb limit…
And the resampling by CGNetworks really screws up my pic

Not that I heard any complaints yet from you guys, but there’s so much detail that get lost . And I see all those hours I worked on it passing by , I just want to share… snif…

Please check this link if you’d like to get a better look (or the one in my sig)

Thanks
