Grand Space Opera 2D Entry: Marlon Kromodikoro

#81

Thanks Ecura for your feedback.

Yes, I’m still not 100% sure whether to flip the image or not.
On the left there will be enemy fighters comming from the right, that could also be a point to focus on. The main enemy force will also be positioned on the left over the planet.
Because I have tilted the view, for now my eyes find it more pleasing to travel from left to (upper) right. But that can change when all elements (enemy fighters, enemy mothership, mechanic on ladder) are in place.

Thanks again!

#82

Here’s the flipped version btw.

#83

This is much more comfortable to look at now. Humm yes I agree it depends what gets put on to determine which flip works better but my guess as it is now… keep it as it is.

#84

Great work so far, the soft rendering of the ship and piolt is absolutely superb. Everything seems so crisp. sorry but i dont have any critique for you, if it stays this quality you will definately have a top entry. keep it up

#85

conundrum, thanks mate!

ok, now back to work…

#86

Aaah, the pilot only has one arm!..

#87

Weathering the ship is fun
This fighter is flown by an Ace, I’ve added the number of kills. I’ll continue weathering and add some nose-art next.
After this I’ll work on the enemy fighters.

#88

I love how clean everything looks. Personally, the final I think should have just a little bit of textures, but the concepts look great simplified. Great progress! Looking forward to the final.

#89

I like your style dude. Keep it up. Cant wait for the final.

Id like to see some chipped of paint here and there to break it up a little.

#90

Chipped up paint, hahaha, just finished adding some my friend.
What a coincident!

Thanks for the kudos guys!

#91

The fighter is almost finished, except for further detail which I will do in the final coloring. Think I’m going to make the canopy open side ways (less work, heheh…)
I wanted to add a mechanic, but I will do him only if I have sufficient time left.

#92

no criticisms. I really like your method of colouring - very smooth, but still gives a feeling of lots of depth. I guess I like it because it’s different from my very detaily way of rendering. Hope you finish it all,

#93

I see you’ve found your nose art. Very nice! Reminds me of the P-51 Mustangs from WWII. Can we have a peek at the rest of your canvas?

edit: I mean the P-41 Mustang.

#94

Finally the enemy…
One fighterbomber escorted by a fighter.

bolchover, thanks for the support!
I too hope to finish in time
Ilikesoup, thanks buddy! Here’s the canvas. Working on the middle parts now…
It’s P-51(D) btw, my favorite plane, very sexy.

#95

Need some carbon scoring on that ship  looks great.

#96

Wow, this is really cool work! Always loved your clean lines and colouring style in the daily sketches… The only thing that strikes me is that the pilot girl might be a little hard to pick out against the dark background. Maybe a bit of silhouette lighting from the flames or something? In any case, looking forward to seeing the final product!

#97

V_Shane thanks man!
What do you mean by carbon scoring?

Vitriolic, hey, I was thinking the same thing about the pilot today. I think you are right, I’ll try tweaking it at the final coloring stage. Thanks mate!

Enemy fighters … check.
Next the background (planet and Mothership)

#98

it certainly keeps getting better, i cant get over how crisp the overall look is. it really stands out, still no real crits, im just looking forward to seeing it finished.

#99

I’m not happy with the jet-trails yet, I’ll touch that up later and some light issues.

#100

One very large enemy cruiser deploying fighters & bombers and targeting an intercepting frigat… yup.
