Grand Space Opera 2D Entry: Leonardo Calvillo

#39

Falcor thanks for your opinion, at this moment I’m working in the light, colors and also some shadows. I need to check different shades…

Blackarts thank you, yes I’m adding something in the blackgroud and front of the image, like the spacecratf and maybe with shadows and more details looks more 3D.

Sorry my english…

Quite good. Detailing and color scheme look great.

I agree with blackarts…there needs to be some point of reference to give the image scale. I think you could also create more depth between the elements by forcing some atmosphere (although there is none in space…) and by overlapping some more elements. The image looks a bit bidimensional.

Keep ‘em comin’

Hi, Your project is original, there is fairyhood…

#42

this is original idea .you could add a little new color maybe a little blue to make it more unmonochromatic (?) Hi, Your project is original, there is fairyhood…[/QUOTE]

Lapazpaki: I’m agree with you, it looks too similar, I think that if I add the spaceships with another colors…I can create a better unmonochromatic image.

Tranchefeux: Thanks for your reply but what do you mean with fairyhood?

Andreas: Your are right, I need some point of reference, and the best option could be spaceships flying around the sphere machines.

LaRoyceJ: Your idea is very original ("…the organism feels so natural…like it actually exists somewhere in time and/or space…on another plane of existence…"), I have some problems with the different color combos jej…

Fabianv: Thank you, I like your opinion.

This illustration has a beautiful design to it and i like looking at it very much. My only concern is that I am not feeling any sense of drama at the moment.

#45

More spaceships and tests. 1° I need to add more shadows to the spheres and create a better 3D machines. 2° I’m going to work in the new spaceships and the attack.
Opinions please.

#46

Starting to get a real sense of depth and scale in this piece now. I think if you can work up the 3D-ness of the sphere objects and continue to work on the sense of vastness in the atmosphere / space BG rendering this piece will be very successful!

Great work!

#47

This is another version without spaceships, I added the missiles and changed the position of spheres. I’m goig to put more details but I don’t know what image looks better.

#48

Nice mood in the scene and I particularly like the colors. Your painting style is great, nice and fluid! Good luck mate!

#49

Very unusually and beautifully!!.. I envy your sight at this theme.
Good luck!!))

#50

Thanks Nikolay and Lovliebutterfly, I think that this is the final version (with missiles). More details afterwards.

#51

Almost done, I just add the explosion and more smoke details.
Critics wecolme.

#52

hey, great pic with amazing designs… but one thing that ruins it a bit is the smoke trails, the dont looks as if they quite match the colour scheme… and also prolly a personal preference, i think it needs more contrast in general and between the background and the ship in the middle, as they sort of merge together at first sight.

i hope that will help and gud luck!

#53

I love the design work on this as well. You have very neat concepts and a good use of shading to add emphasis to your focal points. Great job!

#54

||) |V| |^|: Thank you for the opinion :scream:

daadaa: Thanks, I’m working in the smoke again. I have some problems with the contrast, I know that and I’m trying to sort itself out.

Check this soon!

#55

Very interesting, but grey smoke doesn’t fit here. make it red man -will be better.

#56

Ok I think that this is the final image. Maybe a few details.
This is my first photoshop image that I do, and I only know the basic elements of the program so I can’t resolve some problems.
Critics and opinions are welcome.

#57

mime_evermotion maybe you are right, I’m going to try with the red smoke or some similar color… let’s see how it look.

#58

I agree from mime. Red will be best.
