Fabian Hernandez has entered the Grand Space Opera 2D.

Latest Update: Coloring WIP: spaceship

I decided to make the spaceship that’s taking off more futuristic

#2

Now that’s a topic I really like!

What I’m gonna try to illustrate:
The tragic day when the planet of light (homeworld of the ‘insert name here’) overwhelmed by the dark fleet surrendered to the ‘insert name here’.

Sketch coming soon.

#3

Well, that’s a first concept sketch. The city consists of many veryvery high skyscrapers. There’s gonna be one giant ship of the invaders and some small ones.
There will be holographic projections all over the city, and it’s gonna be viewed from inside a building so we can see some habitants of this planet.

#4

nice start. maybe think about how you can involve figures.

#5

Hi Fabian,

Great futuristic look! I think that it would be nice if you could show the ground/streets so we could get an idea of how high and majestic the buildings really are.

#6

  1. more detailed sketch of the small ship
  2. other concept for the bad guys ships
  3. small-ship-version of the other concept for the bad guys ships
  4. concept for a civilian vehicle

#7

Hello Mark

The buildings are too high to make it possible to see the ground…

#8

The same scene viewed from a different angle with changed invading ship design

#9

your second sketch looks better than the first one, the new angle gives it a more dramatic look, keep it up!

coCoKNIght:
Nice start my friend, your latest concept is looking more dynamic than your first and the colours are nice too. Goodluck

#11

Wow, such words from such great artists! Thank you very much, this encourages me to put more work in this

stay tuned for the next sketch: concepts for the buildings.

#12

Because the habitants of this planet can fly and because almost the entire surface is covered with constructions of any sort, there are many hovering nature parks between the skyskrapers. Many of those have a holographic projector on the bottom where normally Ads are displayed, but now there is written: ‘we surrender!’

#13

like your ciitie gardens towers cool!! lot of work in perspective for the vegetation…need lot detail! keep it goin’

#14

So that’s more or less the look I’m striving for the habitants of the planet of light  spooky!

#15

You’re right, the vegetation’s gonna be a lot of work, but hell, we’ve got plenty of time to finish this…
Thanks for your comment!

#16

I’m heading for a more organic look for the buildings…

#17

welcome to the fray!

i like this concept. it has a soft feel with a sinister undertone. im going to assume youve gone through the the same thought process that i have when thinking of this process, but just incanse:

i feel the use of sky and light will be a key element when portraying the planet of light (duh =]). if you can represent the enemies attacks in a form non-physical, but rather on a symbolic level, itll serve more punch! basically what im thinking is the enemy taking away the light, the sky, stuff like that. i think you ahve the idea already from the concept so far.

but tahts what i think might be cool. but my word is far from gospel, im just trying to get some creative juices flowing, so i hope this helps any.

best of luck
Pete.

I see, you’ve understood exactly what I wanna do, but was unable to explain because I’m not that good in english… Only one thing: There will be no attack. The habitants of the planet of light (hopefully I will come up with a better name someday…) are peacefull people, and though theyr military is much stronger than the one of the invaders their fleet is spread all across the galaxy 'cause they control many planets wich need defense.
Therefor the invaders lauched an assault whit all ships against this world wich is the homeworld and center of the civilization of those blue shiny aliens. And because theyr fleet in this star system wasn’t strong enough and the rest of the fleet too far away, they surrendered without battle hoping to be able to spare lifes. And so the victorious invaders entered the atmosphere of the planet and that’s the scene I’m gonna portrait. A moment where everything stand still, a moment of uncertainty and a moment of victory and power for the invaders. (amen)

Yes very nice concept and the habitants look peaceful yet creepy lol keep up the good work

It’s weekend and I had much time, so I enjoied making this picture.
I had the idea that those aliens could be living in spheric flying houses, that would make possible a low orbit scene…
I still have to figure out something cool for those houses, they’re too organic right now. And I’m not sure if I shoud go for such a low orbit scene or keep the old concept and add here and there some flying houses… I’d really like to hear some more opinions on that… thanks.
