Thereās so many great entry in this challenge, I have my spare time about the next 2 weeks from now or maybe next week when approach the weekend. This is my first try for a big challenge such this grand space thing. Still have no idea right now, got to fill my mind with sci-fi thingā¦quickā¦Thinkā¦think!!! argh!!
hope I can afford something next week.
The second to the last sentence reminded me of me, itās true, the ideas are the most difficult part of any artistic work⦠
Best of luck to ye!
Hey, Thanks for the encouragement, shadowstarre.
I already have a time to get some work now. Iāll try to post something as soon as I can.
Hereās a doodle I doing and still think of some story as well as another concept. I mainly very bad doing a detail thing, but this challenge is a very good opportunity to learn much, especially from another great artist here. Iāll post some more as soon as I can. Crits/input are highly appreciate for this one.
OK, here a rough sketch for the overall scene I might think to create later, I plan to give a bit fantasy mood for the environment especially the clouds and maybe some flying ship to give a war scene. Any Comment on this one and how can I develop it?
I know its still a veryā¦veryā¦very rough one. but I think I must post something in this very early stage.
hi Andrewā¦
very nice colors and good composition! ![]()
looking forward to see progressā¦
cheersā¦
Hi,
Quick sketch but nice one, very dynamic !!!
What kind of story will you put inside ?
Good luck
i like your sketches man dont think theyer weak at all. they got kinda an impressionistic feel to them, give the scene a sense of urgency. keep up the goos work ill be keeping an eye on this thread.
Hi, Greentek.
Thanks for your kind word, they encourage me much!!
Arctics, Thanks!!! the story wonāt be so complex, maybe its sound stupid but I still think about it, maybe an invasion theme or else:D.
-tolga-, Thanks:), I realize that I still have to learn so much, still count a noobs in drawing and painting:).
Walrusmann, Thanksā¦glad to know you like it. Iām so honor to hear that:).

Something Shadowstarre said reminded me of something. He said how coming up with the idea is the hardest part of art.
In the art of acting, it is said that there is no acting, itās merely āreacting.ā You donāt act anything, you merely are reacting to what is going on: the words that are being said, the actions taking place. And when you act, you donāt just pull something out of your butt, you draw from a personal experience or emotion. You take your character and use your own past and characteristics and use them to āreactā to what is going on onstage as you may have once reacted to a similar situation in real life. You relate with the character to bring him/her to life.
I believe that you can relate this to situations like these. You said something like āgot to fill my mind with sci-fiā¦!!ā I donāt think you necessarily have to go about it that way. Take this challenge as a character study in acting. Youāre given the part of creating something big and grand. instead of thinking the exact cliche and thinking it must be āsci-fi,ā rather, think about what personally gives you a sense of grandeur and greatness, what puts you in awe. What leaves your mouth open and eyes wide when you think about it or stare at it? Take this part, and relate your own personal experiences and thoughts to come up with a ācharacter conceptā for this project. Donāt think sci-fi or space; think greatness, operatic, amazement, beauty, horror, what gives you the sense of these emotions, what images spawn in your head when you think of these words? I donāt think the ideas should be the hardest part. Ideas are merely a reaction from your passions, if you have passions, draw from them and see what images/ideas are born, and go from there. The hard part is drawing a vivid picture in your mind and then translating it into physicality. What are your passions, what is āgrandā to you⦠create a story from it, draw it, develop the imagery and story. Draw from yourself, not from a title.
Youāre sketches right now I donāt really get a sense of story, I canāt tell whatās going on. Maybe itās because theyāre just too rough and preliminary at this point. But maybe itās just you donāt have an understanding yet of your own story. That needs to be developed before you start with the imagery, or your imagery wonāt mean anything. But your sketching ability is obviously fine, so illustrating those ideas once they are spawned wonāt be a problem.
hope this helped and I made sense, let me know if I didnāt! And good luck, I look forward to seeing your progress
take care
Androgs- this is a really nice wip. i dig the sky already. i would just say to watch the size and color scheme of any aircraft you put coming into our view from the upper right. depends on what you want to emphasize. just a possible problem down the line. i really like the work so far though. great cityscape coming along. goodluck.
Hi Steve Newport, wowā¦Thanks for your time to give me such inputā¦I really appreciate thatā¦and yeah, if talking something grand ā¦mmā¦to me the clouds in the sky is really one of a grand thing that can build a mood to viewer, so I try to put it also in my scene. But my bad isā¦I really have to dig my mind and search the most passionate thing I want to sayā¦just like you said:D and try to establish as well as develop a story. Again, Manyā¦many Thanks for remind me about this.
Adel3d, Thanks for the encourage word:).!
Misledtomisery, Thanks, your word motivate me much, and yupā¦youāre right, I must careful placing the aircraft later, but I have to design it first. Thanks again, glad to know you dig it.
