GoZ does not work

#1

So I had installed Maya in my D drive. First, Zbrush could not recognize it. I manually browsed the path, and I installed the plugin. When I started up Maya, it said that GoZ is installed and I just had to export from ZBrush. But as I did that, nothing appeared in Maya when it booted up. I looked into the log and found this -

Error: file: C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\Maya\GoZBrushToMaya.mel line 63: Plug-in,
"gozMaya", was not found on MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH. //
 commandPort -securityWarning -name commandportDefault;
 onSetCurrentLayout "Modeling - Standard";

Please help

You may want to check the Zbrush Forums to see if anyone had a similar issue?

Mine didn’t work at all. I had Maya and Zbrush on D drive as well, but it was fairly easy to fix it. FYI, Maya has been having troubles with GoZ for the longest time.

First of all, if your system language is not English, I do recommend switching it to English. There’s a work around it, but it involves creating ENV variable, so I don’t recommend it unless you know exactly what you are doing. Maya can’t read anything that is not standard English path and “Users” is normally localised for some reason.

If your system is in English, try reinstalling GoZ, it can get corrupted, especially if you had multiple Zbrush versions installed and deleted one of them. Then open your maya and make sure that it is loaded in Plugins. You can browse to it manually if needed. You may also need to run mel scripts from that folder in your error msg in Script Editor. There are several of them and all of them are needed.

This helped me to get GoZ shelf and it works fine now.

This script works much better and faster than GoZ

Thanks, but now I have managed to get around this loophole by importing/exporting fbx. Styx is nice btw, will consider in future projects.

I tried reinstalling GoZ multiple times. It worked when I first ran Maya without ZBrush but it used to stop working afterwards.
