Goodies Folder - Rob's Brushes

#1

I tried to download Rob’s brushes, but I think they were for a pc. They have the same .xml ending, so I’m thinking they should work. The instructions were for a pc, but I dragged them to the brush folder and tried to open them. No luck. They show up in the window when I clicked on ‘load brushes’ but it says it ‘cannot open empty library’. They are grayed out with ‘import library’. Any suggestions? TIA

I’m using Painter X.

I assume you’re on a mac? What you need to do is:

  • Download & unzip the file
  • Open the unzipped folder, and inside you will have a jpg and another folder.
  • Drag those two items to the following location on your hard drive:

<username>/Library/Application Support/Corel/Painter X/Default/Brushes/Painter Brushes

Where <username> is the name of your home directory.

  • Re-launch painter, and you should have a category called “Rob’s Brushes”

Hi Planetaaron,
I did exactly what you said, both Painter Brushes and Rob’s Brushes shows up in the window, and when I choose Rob’s brushes, it still says ‘Cannot load empty Library’. Not sure if there is anything else to try.

Have you actually put them inside the Painter Brushes folder? You don’t have to load them, just select them from the Brush Category Menu after installing, they will be at the bottom.
