ok i have seen people on low poly models using planes as hair,
maybe i should show you some examples to help you better answer this,

i am working a 3d character right now,trying to place planes on his head for hair,i want him to have spikey hair,

he is very low poly,like 500 or around that right now,he will be a game model,
sorry to ramble on haha,
but i need to know a good method on doing hair plane modeling stuff,
like when i paint it how should i do it in photoshop,
also anyone a good tutorial on all this stuff,
do you guys think this a good method or low poly modeling for hair,

I haven’t tried this method, but I would guess that you need one map for the hair, to go in the diffuse spot. Then you would need another map for the opacity slot. This would be a greyscale map. Black creates 100% transparency, whilst white creates 100% opacity
ok update here i think i found a good way of doing this maybe,

i detach the polys and shape them out,i think if i uvw unwrap them and paint
them in photoshop it mite turn out good,Chris^_^
