Girls on beach (illustration)

#1

Hi all,
I working on this project ‘girls on the beach’ for an illustration purpose
here are the first test images (I have to prepare more images sooner als possible
).

The idea is to fake a bit a old style photo on the final postwork and to give at the image a bit of more realism (or something more natural) avoiding a ‘flat’ render sensation.

I used Poser 6 to pose vicky3 model (using 8 different body shapes and dress) and then I import the p6 figures into Cinema. Textures are totally reworked in Photoshop + BP combining Cinema procedural materials. Scene, light and render is made with Cinema (9.5).

I need some critics on the global work, pose and general feeling
So I can heard another point of view now
Your comments will be seriously appreciated

Julien

very photographic. good work! I think the first image looks more relistic than the second, but I’m not sure why.

#3

Very well done. The second image looks less realistic I think because of the inside of the hand, it throws it off. I think it looks a little plastic and doesn’t fit with the realism in the image. The only other crit is the girl on the right in the second image looks weird because of the inside of her leg. I know that bone is supposed to be there (I even got out of my chair and moved to see if it was lol) but it looks out of place. Overall I think this is one of the most realistic scenes I have seen using people. Great job man!

#4

Very well done! Had to take a double look to realize it wasn’t a photo!

#5

i would say you did your job well! looks great

#6

Great work. Your skin tones are very impressive. Are you using some kind of SSS/Translucency? The overall look is astonishingly real (especially with the PSD filters applied). I also think your DOF is at just the right position to not break the reality of the images.

My only crit would be that there are some of the hand poses (only 2 that I can see really) that looks a little “posed”. In other words the poses don’t seem to be natural.

Thanks a lot for your differents comments and crits, there are really usefull. I will take time tomorrow to fix some things and continue to post some up-date in the next days…

ciao Julien

Great render job. the rig behaves a bit strange as soon as the knee is bended but appart from that its really hard to make out its not a photo  very nice work :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lovely work jddog. It’s nice to see someone use Poser poroperly:)

I like the cropped voyeuristic quality of these…

Did you use photos for refencing the scene, or did you just make this up as you went?

Lovely.

Man. if I was someone who didn’t know about CG, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Nice work man, keep pushing yourself.

Later!

I use some referencies for this first pictures from ‘Elle’. Mostly to study singular pose, and real photo film effects. Then I try to made this also in 3D. Because I’m not a very body/topology/pose expert (I work mostrly on landscape and architectural viz) I need a base to start using bodies. At same time I will escape from a Poser classic pose and feeling.
A reference like used allows me to try to be/create a more naural scene.

In the nest day I will take care to all comments and will continue to up-date actual images and slowly post other new scene.

Thank for all you crits and comments…

when i saw the first image i thought that it was a photo…great work!

it think it is photorealistic also without the post-work.the two version look just different but not one better than the other.(and it’s a good thing!)

Maybe you should improve the joint deformation on their elbows knees and hands. That’s the single thing that make me notice that they are’nt photos.

#15

Very realistic skintones! I first thought it was a photo!
Knees and elbows don’t bend properly in extreme poses.

#16

Congratulations! Very cute girls and realistic scenes.
I like a lot the poses and the feeling of movement of your pictures.

impressive julien. near perfection, maybe just some weird things on some articulations (especially elbows).
Congrats.

#18

Many thanks for your crits !

Here the up-date of the first scene. I’ve changes different arms and hand poses and jut rework a bit the pump map of some texture to reach a more natura skin surface and avoid a plastic spectacular result on the render.
