General Rhino question

#1

Hi.

I recently downloaded a copy of Rhino 4 evaluation version.

I read on the site that you can history edit things now? But how?

I created a loft between 2 curves, trimmed out a hole and tried to adjust the trim. no go.
I re-did that with “record history on” that didn’t help.
Is there a way of adjusting a fillet radius after you’ve filleted something? (the way do can in maya?)

Basically it seems like rhino does not create dependant surfaces… is that correct?
Do I need studioTools for that?

check the record history at the bottom and make sure that update children is on… works fine… check the help file for list command that works with history

you cannot update a fillet

surface can be dependant in rhino all depends how you made them…

get Alias if you have the money but I can’t get use to the interface…

Cool, I’ll give that a go.

Playing with AliasStudio PLE at the moment… coming from Maya it is funny how some things in maya look like they’ve been ripped straight from Studio but over all yes the interface is too wierd.

Thanks for your help.

forget the history in StudioTools! it’s more or less as good (or useless) as the rhino one.
In general I believe that ST is suffering a lot. No community, no online tutorials nothing…

I liked it a lot, until release 12 I was using it. I tried Rhino and never looked back! So much cheaper that I can afford Maya to render out my stuff. A superb combo

I wouldn’t say that…

There is http://aliasdesign.autodesk.com/ now…

Studio and rhino are at 2 different levels really…

Whilst rhino is cheaper it can’t create the same quality models, dose not have nice real-time rendering, sketching tools and intergration with Maya and other cad packages…

But all this does come at a price which dose not suit everyone…
