Hi everyone. I am very skilled in the visual part of Flash. I have just started learning After Effects. I saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0zEXdDO5JU and was amazed, how beautiful, yet simple it is. I would like to ask if anyone here has some workflow tips, how to achieve the similar effects, that are used in this video. I see that he (Jonathan Jarvis - the creator) uses Wiggle expression alot, and animated masking too.
I think what I like about it is that the techniques are really easy. It seems to be alot of basic keyframing. Here’s some of what I saw.
Text animation using slightly modified text presets. (Fade up by character with a small move in Y)
Lots of icon elements with basic animation hand-keyframing (Moving the anchor point around and editing positon, rotation, and scale). Lots of bouncing scale by having values go from like 0%-120%-100%
Radio waves effect for cell phone icons.
3D layers for signposts.
Using masks to create reveals.
Explosions using shape layers and simple particle systems to make clouds. (Radio waves can be used for this too if you’re creative)
It’s really just that simple. Lots of making clean icons and using basic keyframing to animate them.
Sorry for the late answer. I saw your reply the next day after I made the topic and gave you reputation, but forgot to reply.
I have been using that video as my main inspiration for my project and I said to my self that I am ready, the moment I am able to do every thing in AE, that is visible in that video.
