The GCF:
The Gamma Centauri Federation is a group of mega corporations originally assembled to protect iridium farms on the scorched planets orbiting the Gamma Centauri twin stars. Currently it is comprised of a dozen different stakeholders mainly in the rare metal industry in the greater ?C sector. The main function of the federation is still military, although it also serves as a forum for trade deals.
Most other galactic entities regards the GCF as a glorified umbrella corporation, and its enemies see it as a symbol of oppressive ultra capitalism. Nevertheless it is commonly seen as one of the most well funded and technologically advanced military forces (albeit not massive in size) of the sector.
The fighter:
The QW-4 is the latest in a series of attempts of the GCF to design the perfect force equalizer. It is built from the ground up to fight up-size, deployed in swarm as a counter to lightly guarded larger platforms. The design is focused on protecting the critical weapon systems from energy bursts and kinetic shrapnel commonly used to disable down-size threats.
The main weapon of the QW-4 is a precision mass driver located in the center of the frame. This delivers huge kinetic impacts at medium range. Projectiles delivered by the mass driver has a limited homing capability, providing precision not usually found on ultra large caliber kinetic weapons.
A secondary pair of ion cannons on each side of the body gives the fighter decent dog fighting capabilities.
