Gamma problems with v7 HDR

#1

I’ve found that when loading some HDR files that they come into EI looking dark and under exposed, in image viewer i can enable gamma and it corrects the problem, but is there any way to do this once the images are loaded into skymap ?

Or can image viewer save out .HDR ? i can’t see an option for that…

Now then squire,

I’m just about to record a tutorial on this today, but effectively the controls you’re after are in the HDRI options dialogue.

‘Output remap’ - enable it.

  1. HIGHER Bias values will lighten your HDR.
  2. LOWER X Range values will lighten your HDR.

EI’s gamma only works in 8 bit space, hence the need for re-mapping which does the trick nicely.

Hope that helps!

Ok thanks, i was going to try that but it means doing a render test after every adjustment, most HDR’s seem to come in ok, so its not a big deal…

One i was having a problem with is on this page, second from bottom, i suspect the others are the same.
