Game Level Design competition deadline in 3 or so weeks

#1

Hi folks,

A competition for artists to design a 3D car game level is nearing the deadline of the 16th of April.

If you would like to take part, you can complete a basic 30 minute tutorial ( on Macromedias website ) here…

http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/director/articles/3d_in_30_print.html

The software can be downloaded for free from here, along with instructions etc…

Here are screenshots from some sample levels to give you inspiration!

See more info on the competition here…

If you know any other artists who might be interested in designing a vehicle based game level ( think GTA, or whacky races ), feel free to forward them this information.

Also, if you are a member of a 3D forum who has members who might like to design 3D models for games, feel free to re-post this information as well.

Good luck!

I tried this app, it really works magic, just put some models in a new project and you have a level you can drive in. It doesn’t put much strain on your hardware (40% CPU with 47000 polygons) and you can create a simple level in 5 minutes

Hi GhostLike,

Thanks for your comments!

I’m looking forward to seeing what levels people design, and even to see if there is a noticable difference between levels created by artists using different 3D applications!

cando wasnt that a 2d multimedia authoring app?
i see blender isnt included in the 3d apps? why?

Its because it doesnt have a ShockWave3D exporter. It is possible to export to XSI from Blender and use the standalone XSI to W3D converter afterwards.
