…Wip.

The Legs

Just extruded from the edges at the hip, then tweaked the verts then extruded some more, added a few more poly’s here and there to add more volume.

The Feet

I usualy hate doing feet, but I have to say I got well into these! I’m not into feet or anything! I just love ninja shoes, they’re so cool! Much more of the same processes, extruding, beveling and a bit o’ mirroring!

More detailz

I started adding sole to the feet, and added the knuckle things, I basicaly made the middle fingers knuckle thing the cloned then alligned them to the other fingers.

Whats changed?

Well the bobbly thing on his , masky type thing. so basically not much!

The Eyes

Was thinking of just texturing these, but I thought hey! I got a few polys to play with, so I’ve modelled them, I think they’ll give them some depth.

Way to stick to the concept! He’s coming out great!
I like that you were able to add the ridges of his pants in the geometry. I guess you’ll be able to have many more details like that and still stay under 4K!

Looking great so far, :thumbsup:

my only crit is the colour scheme, I know he’s a ninja, but the character and feeling that the character implies in your origional picture sujest a kids icon :hmm: , and for that i’d expect primary colours, maybe even a hint of colour like the eyes bright red might be enough.

dont hold me to this its just the image ive got in my head, he would really fit into a sonic type universe.

P.S what happened to the tail :surprised

Cheers baaah888, glad you like it, I was kind of thinking he’d be a kind of cutesy character within a kind stealth ‘em up, I think mixing the two genres is kind o’ fun and something I’d like to play about with. Imagine Mario in a quake world, or a quake guy in a marioesque universe, that’d be funny!

Thanks for your comments though, as for the tail I just ditched it, didn’t think it added anything to the character.

ahh ok cool, :beer: “stealthy killer cartoon monkey slays family form shadows”

i really like this character, so one more little sugestion relating your model to your concept, the eyebrow/forehead doesn’t meet in the concept but does meet in the model, I think the concept idea rocked, i can imagine the little guy doing the “peoples eyebrow” at an unsuspecting baddy,

Howdy Okse,

This lil fella is looking sweet. A lot better since you’ve introduced the blue into the textures.

Are you going to do some animating with him at some point?
If not could I have a play at doing something with him?

Great layout you have there Okse. I like how you managed to show everything from concept to final model in one very nice and neat package, but it would be nice if it were alot bigger for when you submit it into the challenge site (if you are not planning to already;) )

As for your character, he has loads of personality. I find that I would actully really like to play this character in a game. However, right now, I find that the grey background behind your final model does not enhance or do anything for your model at all. Perhaps a lighter grey, or a colored background could pop him out more and get our attention.

Just want to say I’ve really enjoyed doing this and hope I can join in with further challenges.

That makes two of us. I would love to see more of your work here in future challenges too. keep up the good work!!

Apt many thanks for your comments, makes me wanna come back and have another go.

I’ve also came up with a backstory about the game, it’s a bit brief but I’m sure you get the idea :slight_smile:

Banished from his cutesy world, Ninjarrgh, or Flufnik as he was known in his home world is thrown into a Metal Gearesque universe, where he has to retrieve 12 crystals placed in various museums and secure units, using stealth, cunning and jumping on enemies heads to turn them into fruit! He must return these crystals to his home world to get his banishment lifted.

i really like the character too, although i still think the eye brow should have been modelled rather than textured :wink:

About the CgChallenge site, i noticed that too, it says that my jpg isn’t a jpg

I hope you do join the later challenge’s as this entry was great, I know what you mean about busy tho, im searching busily for a work placement, and getting my portfolio and demo reel ready, (fingers crossed for an interveiw at reflections) I hope to have my character sheet ready tomorrow.

I think white would work as a good background colour, for your character sheet. did you pen in the outline after, cause it looks a little cel shaded. i think it looks really good like that.

Cheers for the comments, I forgot about the eyebrow thing you mentioned but got side tracked with other stuff. As for the out lines most people I know use a a cel shading renderer but what I do is make a copy of the mesh, extrude all the polys locally, invert selection delete those polys, then select the mesh again flip the polys then apply a black material to it.Well thats how I do it in max.

Hope your Demo reel comes together and you find a job, you just got to get your foot in the door. Then learn as much as you can.

Crack open a bottle of Newky Brown when you do :slight_smile:
