Game Icons - character - frakke

#17

@Martin Andersen:
There will be lots of nasty body hair, scars, bruises and perhaps some ugly tatoos like ā€œMOMā€ and picture of an anchor beneath (suggested else where).

Hehe, I’ve got to pull out some polys in various places. I misread the challenge description and thought the limit was 4500 polys :shrug: Oh well, it shouldn’t be that difficult to tweak at least 100 polys ekstra, so I don’t think I’m in trouble anywayz.

#18

Hmmm :hmm: , not so sure about the scars… at the ends of the day he’s the Punisher…not the Punished…

#19

@Gru:
Oh, but he has had some ruff training in the early days, back when he was the punished. Now it’s time for revenge. :twisted:

A minor update:

Done:

  • Adjusted the G-String further in and up.
  • Adjustet the size of the eyes.
  • His weapon - a stick with a chain attached to it. Raw and primitive :thumbsup:
  • Metal plates on the shoes.

Doing and todo:
Adjusting the model, so that it deforms ok. A bit of optimizing.
… UV’s, texture, bones and a little bit of animation just4fun.

#20

Cool :thumbsup: Looks good mate, nice and original :buttrock:

Will you be converting this to Quake 3 / Unreal 2K3 by any chance? I think the community would like this one :wink:

#21

damm, wish I could texture my character as good as yours :(. He’s looking very punishable ;). Reminds me more of the character in Thrill Kill for ps1.

#22

@Hirigashi:
There’s no texture on yet. Just colored with light.

@pedantic:
Thnx. I don’t know yet. It could be fun to see ones model ingame though, running around with some nasty weapons.

Yet another update, this time with wires. I have tried to optimize the model and got a few extra polygons to smooth out edges where I thought necessary. Also added some bulge to the edges near the straps, so that he would look more fat, and moved the head a bit up and forward. The butt has also gained som polygon weight.

I have tried to prepare it for deformation, but haven’t any real experience with that though, so comments on the geometry would be really great.

#23

hes fat…and awesome
great work

couldnt help u with the deformation though - sry!

#24

@Chris Antonelle:
Thnx. No matter, it just came down to a little trial and a lot of error. Learned a bit though :thumbsup:

UV’en is laid out, geometry adjusted to deform nicely, the skinn is almost done. The color tone in the light areas will be more skin-colored and not so… purple! Bumpmaps and specular maps coming. The hair in the arse will be less black (naaasty).
The pink areas has yet to be textured…

TODO:
Mess some more with the skin and bruises. Old battered leather, blood on the metal on the shoes etc…

And… riggin, skinning and a walkcycle with some nasty secondary motion in the stomach etc. :wip:

#25

I just looked at 8mm and that guy makes me think of Machine. Hes a big scary guy with a goofy face under the mask. great job though.

#26

@t-man152:
Hehe, this one looks like Crusty the Clown under the mask :wink:

Adjusted the skin tone to something near final - I think… and made some more textures.

TODO:

  • small noise/variation in the skin.
  • trousers more schrathed/worn and some blood on them.
  • the area around the eyes needs some more work
  • more hair :slight_smile: the legs, stomac.
  • bump og specular, riggin and walkcycle.

#27

Just an 360’er (DivX 5.03)

360 turn character animation - deleted!

Added bump and specular and adjusted the textures alot more. Comments are very wellcome :thumbsup:

#28

Added a walkcycle. Still wip…

Walkcycle01 anim (DivX 5.03)

#29

wow thats fantastic, :thumbsup:

although i think you’ll regret making a weapon like that if your gonna use him in a big animation, chains as ive found are very hard to animate well. but good luck.

#30

Updated a lot of stuff. Mainly more color in the texture, and specular and bump maps.

Also updated the walkcycle (DivX 5.03)

@baaah888:
Thnx :slight_smile: I think I’m only doing a walkcycle, perhaps a runcycle and even strike with weapon though.
Yep, the chain might be a bit of a challenge (but that’s what this is all about :wink: ). I’m very newbie at animating so I’m not sure if I actually can animate it believable though.

#31

final submission:

Coments are still welcome.

#32

final submission continued:

Coments are still welcome.

#33

Very talented… You can get jobs on stuff like that !!!

#34

very nice, especially like the walk cycle, and hope that you get to animate the chain soon :).

Good luck with the job hunting, have you tryed deadline, they were looking recently, dont know if they still are but the add is still on their site.

tpe

#35

@Martin Andersen:
I certainly hope so. :beer:

@tpe:
Thnx. I sent an application to them this monday. I don’t know if I get to animate the chain within the next 2 weeks as I’m doing another projekt (a wild demo for se2k), but I will give it a try as soon as I get the time :slight_smile:
