good texture work… but I dont understand your concept. what is this guy supposed to be? what is the material on his face, and why is it on his face in that pattern?
Game character
IT doesn’t matter at all. It stands on it’s own.
But I do understand people might be curious.
I am very confused by this post. I dont understand why this model is labeled as a game character. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great. But there are more polys in its head than an entire online game character would normally have. I know this cause I make online game characters. Plus I am not sure what you would do with just a head.
You have a good start as far as concept and texture goes. But to really call it a game character you need to drop the poly count at least by half in the head and give it a body (unless it is some type of flying head monster). Plus you need to post the specs of the model and the textures that you used.
Game characters are not only about looks. They are about functionality and efficiency. This example atm does not look like it belongs in a game.
None the less it looks great! Though I wouldn’t label this a game character, at least not yet.
probably he could use the normals on it and put them on the low poly character, or maybe its for a cut scene. anyways it looks really awsome. keep us updated
I like how the organic threads are tightly wrapped around the head and embedded into the ‘eyes’.
But the bonds, they have less detail than the threads and they seem to be taped on the lips as if it could easily be removed for him to speak. I would choose for threads on the lips in stead of bonds and remodel and/or texture as it would appear the threads were tightly stitched, damaging the lips and leaving scarred tissue.
Then again, ‘stitched lips’ have been used a lot in drawings so I would agree it’s not original.

Well, he has something there, but I think the main point is, how we’re supposed to be critiquing this piece. Let us know. There are many aspects of game characters that arent associated with beautiful renders. I think its a beautiful render, but maybe some of the character would be lost while playing, or being rendered somehow real-time.
That’s another thing.
anyway, let us know
Jonas
As far as i know, this guy is doing a trailer for a game company. Therefore, i think there’s no reason that it is improper he called it a game character.
I’m not sure when this trailer or game will release but here are some pics of that game trailer i found…

I feel sorry for you Tomato
Ok, so once again, these are beautiful renders/ compositions. As for a critique on the game character in-game… I look forward to seeing that.
Good job, keep it up
Thanks cgfun for the links! Now it is clear; is a character for game cinematics! Thanks
