Game Art Mini Challenge #2 : delucubus

#1

Hi everyone, my first go at these challenges. My idea was a stylized mayan tomb/temple.

Here’s some shots, wireframe, and the maps I’m using. It’s at 451 faces right now and I think I can still optimize some of the textures.

Oh ya, there’s no vertex lighting yet, it’s only 2 two spotlights. Let me know what you think!

me like
it has a Dungeon Siege kind of feel to it
only thing that bothers me a bit is the angular feel of the base; you spend a lot of tri’s on the rocks behind the entrance, but not enough at the rocks near the steps

this one is great, has a very nice cartoony feel over it

#4

nice comic work wick camera you want to use
try all of your viewport be full this make your work seem more better

Nice work man. The edges on the ramps where the torches are seem not to be smoothed, and it is distracting, also the edges on the stone pillars are the same way, hard. The pillars texture looks stretched some, maybe you can play with either the map, the mesh or the UV’s to get that issue worked out.

Thanks for your comments guys. I agree about the sides now after looking at them, I have some polys I can spare to give them more detail. The stretching on the pillars is hard to deal with because of the weird shape that they are in and because I only have a 64x64 map to texture them with. That is definately something I want to try and fix though.

I worked some more on the mesh and textures. I also added some vertex lighting. This was my first time using it in Lightwave so it was definately a learning experience.
